Bear Viewing

Darlene: I want to express my appreciation for having us be your guest. We have really enjoyed meeting you, staying with you and meeting some of your friends. I do not feel like I stayed in a B&B, but that I have stayed with family and enjoyed being here more than any other vacation that I have taken. Your place feels like home and it is very beautiful. Vacation

We can't even begin to say what a wonderful time we had during our one week stay in Kodiak. We saw a program on the fishing bears here and decided one day we would have to visit. The experiences we had exceeded our expectations. Although the bears weren't fishing because salmon wasn't running, we saw more bears at close range that we ever anticipated. We followed all of Darlene's suggestions for bear watching and ATV riding. We went whale watching and otter seeking, what a blast!!! The best part of all was our stay at Smiling Bear - wonderful accommodations, fabulous food, tremendous conversation an outstanding host. We will treasurer our photos, "jewels", CD, Crab Fest Poster and memories. Thank you! P.S. In the words of MacArthur, "we shall return."

Fishing adventure

Best B&B we've stayed in! Darlene is a terrific host - steered us in all the right directions & even shared her fishing gear! Would recommend this to anyone.

I stay here on every business trip to Kodiak. Once a quarter. Darlene is a great host and cook and I love it here.
