A charming B & B and a charming hostess

This weekend we were treating a family member to a stay as a 60th birthday present and going to see a show at the nearby MGM Grand Theater (Seinfeld). I found Abbey's on-line and it looked lovely. The reality of the Inn was even better than the pictures on the website. Our hostess Erica was incredibly helpful, sweet and wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and felt comfortable. Our room, the Southwest Room, was spacious, with a fun and eclectic decor. The bed was very comfortable and the fireplace at the foot of the bed was a nice addition. Our guests had the Cadillac room, which had a huge bathroom with a 2 person jacuzzi, they loved it. Breakfasts were simple, but good and Erica is very conscious about having good and healthy foods for her guests.

“Mystic Jewel...almost tucked in the woods”

My wife and I spent much of the Thanksgiving weekend in the Mystic area and luckily we chose to stay at Abbey's. Erika is a great inn-keeper. Not only did she ensured we felt comfortable, she also gave us great recommendations on what to do and where to eat on the holiday weekend - when many things were closed. The room (Southwest) was amazing - fireplace + Jacuzzi. We loved lazying on the deck on Friday morning and then venturing out to eat at the recommended small restaurants. Overall, a very good experience and worth doing all over again in a couple of years from now.

We loved staying at Abbey's with Erika!

Abbey's is a charming place, wonderful breakfast and service - tucked away in a historic area of CT, near enough to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun to make them available or to resist temptation! Near Mystic, Stonington and Noank - if you've never been to New England, this is the perfect place in which to relax and get great local advice and a real flavor of the environs from Erika. All the recommendations for restaurants and activities she gave us were spot-on! We enjoyed stimulating conversations with Erika, who made us feel at home. We hope we will be able to return soon. Well worth the trip from NJ. Three thumbs up :) Bob and Barbara K.

Birthday Getaway

I needed a place to rest, and to nurture myself on my b-day...best decision I ever made! Between napping, enjoying a jacuzzi, and sitting out on the deck reading, it was the perfect weekend. I left revived! WE HAVE ALREADY BOOKED FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE! And of course, I am going back for birthday 2013! I think Foliage too, because the property is surrounded by beautiful trees!

A quiet country get-away

From the moment we walked into Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn there was a sense of peaceful serenity that stayed with us throughout our whole visit. We came here for a night away at the end of March 2012. The inn is situated on big lawn (it would be a great place to play croquet!) with a really neat veranda/pergola/outdoor barbecue area off to the side. Spring flowers were coming up in the garden. The woods & winding country road (right near Long Pond & of course, Lantern Hill) where the inn is located makes the casino feel far away, when in fact it's probably less than a quarter of a mile. We stayed in the Cadillac Room which has a big red hot tub, a gigantic flat screen t.v. (which has now convinced my boyfriend that we need one like that), a comfy queen size bed & its own little outside, second floor porch with table & chairs. We had a glass of wine on the porch as we listened to the spring peepers in the woods beyond the sloping lawn. It really felt like an escape & reminded me a bit of a place I've stayed at in Russian River, California. The room was super clean & very comfortable. Erika, who runs the inn, was very welcoming and friendly. She told us about a great place in Mystic where we wound up having dinner. There's ton to do around Mystic (we want to see the Pequot Museum next time) & we'll be back in the summer (to canoe on Long Pond & go to the beach in Rhode Island) & in fall on a leaf peeping trip & go to Mystic Seaport.

Fabulous Tine

We recently had a fabulous time at Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn. We took our two puppies and stayed in the immaculate and charming cottage (Chateau Eve). The cottage had a fenced backyard for the puppies (which they loved) and a side-deck with party lights and a bistro table. The bed was very comfortable, and the room had a television and a couch and refrigerator and a good-sized bathroom. The service was excellent. Erika greeted us with a big smile and offered us champagne glasses when she showed us our room. She prepared fantastic and healthy breakfasts (organic eggs, milk, plantains, and turkey bacon). Additionally, her knowledge of the local area provided us with four great ideas for hikes and nature walks with the dogs. Although the Inn is very close to Foxwoods (literally around the corner) it has a charming wooded setting (we saw deer in the backyard). We can't speak highly enough of this charming, lovely Bed and Breakfast.

What a Find!

I discovered Abbey's after googling "hotels near Foxwoods" and it came up through an http://about.com portal. What a great discovery I made, this place was fantastic. You could literally walk to Foxwoods in under 5 minutes from this Bed & Breakfast. There are several different rooms here I believe most are in the main building with a few others completely separate, our room was in the main building but I felt there was plenty of privacy. We stayed in the Downeast room which had a shared deck and your own personal fireplace and private bathroom and shower, very nice. The place was clean and comfortable as well. The prices here are very reasonable ($140 with taxes for our room) and another big appeal to this place is that Foxwoods had been sold out for the Saturday night we were looking at and they still had rooms available the Thursday before. Another great little bonus was the breakfast the manager/owner made in the morning, she gave us the option of eggs or french toast (or both) with turkey bacon and a large selection of pastries. We both went for the french toast which she made with a fresh baguette, the bacon was great too. She even has an organic garden in the backyard! I highly recommend this B&B is you're in the Foxwoods area.

My husband and I decided to go to Mystic for our wedding anniversary. We stayed at Abbey's for a weekend. We have never been there before and we booked it last minute. Didn't know what to expect really, but when we got there what a pleasant surprise was awaiting us!!!! The place is so tranquil, peaceful and beautiful. The room was super cozy, very clean and comfortable. The view of the property from our little balcony was really nice and refreshing. The area around the property is really beautiful. The place is conveniently located about 10 minutes from Mystic and only a few minutes from Foxwoods. We loved the fact that it was a little secluded and not in a busy area of Mystic. It was the perfect place to stay!!!!! I just want to add that the inn keeper Erica is extremely nice and very helpful. All her recommendations as far as restaurant choices were excellent. We enjoyed every moment of our little getaway. We will definitely come back to Abbey's again!

My SO & I celebrated my birthday with six wonderfully relaxing sunbathing days and five hopping nights with a whole lot of lovin at Abbey's Lantern Hill Inn this past August. We stayed in the Cadillac Room where we took full advantage of sunbathing on the private deck and the jacuzzi every single day. The complimentary drinks in the fridge were a bonus after soaking under the sun. Nights were fun-filled at Foxwoods. I couldn't have had a better birthday gift. There's no doubt we'll be returning again and again. Thank you, Erika!

The Hubby and I stayed in the Cadillac Suite for our 1 year wedding anniversary; thats the one with the big red jacuzzi tub. It was the perfect touch of that "homey" feeling, to make you feel cozy, but luxurious enough to make you feel special. :) The property is great-- scenic and relaxing. The owner is very friendly. And if you are able to pry yourself from the comforts of the inn...the casino is just down the road!

Abby's Lantern Hill Inn is beautiful treasure of southwestern CT. My wife and I booked a room for a last minute, spur of the moment get away, and boy were we pleasantly surprised. Upon arrival, the grounds and general atmosphere transported us from our hectic world to a time and place that we both related to Hyannis Port or Newport during the 1940s. The charm is in the details. Our room was very clean, in great condition, and very well decorated. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Erika, the Innkeeper, is well traveled, well versed, and a delight to talk with. She is quite a cook too. Our stay was short, so we were unable to fully enjoy the hammocks, fire pit, grill, gardens, and covered pavilion that the exquisite grounds provided. We are sure to return to give them a go. Whether looking for a place to escape and relax or just to spend a night or two while enjoying the attractions of the area, Abbey's is the place to stay.
