Description

Circa 1854. In Newport's waterfront district stands this European-style inn. Designed by renowned architect Dudley Newton, the inn was named for Admiral Fitzroy who commanded the HMS Beagle on Charles Darwin's historic voyage that preceded the writing of his famous book. Fitzroy also was famous for developing a barometer. The inn has 17 attractive hand-painted rooms. A continental breakfast is served each morning in the breakfast room. Breakfast fare includes such delights as fresh fruit juices, yogurts, fresh muffins, croissants, cereals, cheese tray and hard-boiled eggs. After breakfast, guests will want to head out on foot to explore the historic waterfront district, which has excellent restaurants, antiquing and harbor activities. Newport boasts more occupied colonial houses than anywhere else in America. It also has the oldest Episcopal church and the first synagogue.

Romantic Old World Style

Admiral Fitzroy has captured the ambiance of old world inns both in its building, its breakfasts, and its welcoming feeling of "coming home," a perfect place to re-connect, recharge and renew the relationship spirit.

InnSide Tip - Cliff Walk and Ocean Drive
The inn's convenient off street parking allows for sightseeing without worrying about a place to park. The Cliff Walk and Ocean Drive are "do not miss" places for beautiful ocean views and photos. Both are free, and food for the spirit!

Admiral Fitzroy B&B

We have stayed at the Admiral Fitzroy twice and have loved it both times. Whenever our travels take us to New England we look forward to staying there. The location is the best and so are the accomadations. We recommend it to everyone we talk to that is going to New England. Jim and Donna- Buffalo NY.

Excellent in every way

Perfect location in Newport. Very reasonably priced. Comfortable beds. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff eager to share their recommendations for places to eat. Parked the car and walked to everything. Great breakfast. Would definitely stay here anytime that I visit Newport.
