Description

Circa 1892. Two former boarding houses were joined to create this luxurious, Victorian bed & breakfast whose name means "the inn of happiness." Guest quarters, laced with a Victorian theme, are decorated with period wallpapers and antique furnishings. One master suite includes an enormous Jacuzzi tub. There are plenty of relaxing options at Albergo Allegria, including an inviting lounge with a large fireplace and overstuffed couches. Guests also can choose from more than 300 videos in the innkeeper's movie collection. Located just a few feet behind the inn are the Carriage House Suites, each of which includes a double whirlpool tub, gas fireplace, king-size bed and cathedral ceilings with skylights. The innkeepers came to the area originally to open a deluxe, gourmet restaurant. Their command of cuisine is evident each morning as guests feast on a variety of home-baked muffins and pastries, gourmet omelettes, waffles and other tempting treats. The inn is a registered historic site.

Exceptional

It's hard to write a review of this inn without gushing and finding enough superlatives to describe it. The rooms are beautifully appointed and furnished, immaculately clean with very comfortable beds. The breakfasts, to borrow a phrase, are "to die for." As I understand it, three members of this family owned B&B are chefs and it shows. Each day guests are offered four choices, and these choices change each day -- pancakes, waffles, a frittata, a closed omelette and a soft savory -- or simply eggs cooked to order. A sideboard is loaded each day with fresh mixed fruit, freshly baked muffins, a choice of breads for toasting, homemade granola, Greek yogurt, cold cereals for the kids, gourmet coffee and teas. The inn is visually inviting wherever you look, outside and in. The innkeepers literally treat you like family. Be open to the experience of true mountain hospitality, excellent food, and classy comfort, and you'll have one of the best B&B experiences ever!
