Great B&B!

On our week long vacation all over Colorado, our last night we wanted to have a great night, so we picked this B&B. The location was perfect with walking distance to great local shops, stores and restaurants. Our room was perfect, we were in the Osage Room. The staff treated us and everyone else there like personal friends. The breakfast was more than just muffins and juice, and was quite delish! We would definitely stay here again, and most definitely recommend it to others!

Superb!

What a charming place to stay. My husband and I stayed two nights at the Avenue Hotel and were exceptionally pleased. Gwen was such a wonderful hostess, making you feel at home from the moment you walked through the door. What can I say about Breakfast? It was outstanding!! Don't plan on eating a big lunch. You are minutes away from everything in Manitou Springs and right in the heart of town. It is definately a do again!

Fantastic B&B!!

My husband and our two boys, 12 & 16, stayed at the Avenue Hotel B&B for 2 nights. We were so glad we picked this B&B. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. Gwenn and Randy were awesome and Gwenn makes the best food! We stayed in the Carriage House and it was a perfect home-away-from-home for us. Even our picky teenagers loved it. This is the only place my husband and I will stay at if we're in the Pikes Peak area.

Picture Perfect Place!

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Avenue Hotel. The B&B has recently been renovated, is sparkling clean, and provides "southern hospitality" without being in the south. The breakfast was delicious and Gwenn and her family are charming and offered fantastic suggestions on things to do and where to eat! Don't miss this jewel!

Wonderful Getaway

I wanted to take my girlfriend to a very special getaway and was extremly happy that I picked the Avenue Hotel, Thanks to Gwen and Randy for making it a very special place to spend it with a very special Lady! The food and hospitality was exceptional. They also went above and beyond to make dinner reservations for us at the Craftwood Inn, I would highly recommend for a romantic dinner! Thanks for the memories!

Peaceful Beauty

Our stay at Avenue was the best we have ever experienced at a B&B. Everything from the beauty of the place to the comfort of the bed to the cleanliness of the whole place to the location of the inn to the graciousness of the innkeeper was excellent! Breakfast was exceptional. We will be back and will tell all our friends where to stay in the Colorado Springs area.

Lovely!

I went down to the Springs for a little getaway one weekend in February and fell in LOVE with Avenue Hotel! Gwenn and Randy are delightful and I had the most perfect time. Nestled right in the heart of Manitou Springs on their historic main street, it was just what I needed to relax and get away. The food was AMAZING and they even have a masseuse on hand to rub out all of your worries and stresses. A+++!!

Easter weekend 2010

Gwenn and Randy have an outstanding place for you to stay! Manitou Springs is a beautifully situated town with a terrific main street full of little shops, diners/cafes, galleries, etc. The Avenue Hotel has been wonderfully restored and provides better amenities than a regular hotel, with a much closer knit feel between your hosts and fellow guests. Gwenn's breakfast was amazing, especially the fried apple french toast. I highly recommend you Avenue Hotel.

Romantic

Your Innkeepers Gwenn David And Randy Hodges are truely special! Not only have they done a splendid job redecorating this former boarding house they really know how to make you feel welcome. Their romantic package is a treat and a bargain. They went the extra mile never having even met us. Arranged last minute massages. Ask for "Kat" as a masseuse, if she is available. We are still enjoying the relaxation she imparted and its been over a week. Gwenn accommodated my spouse's food allergies at the last minute. No gluten, no dairy, no legumes. We enjoyed our stay and our conversations with Gwenn and Randy immensely and wish them and their guests only the best. Definitely one of our best Bed and Breakfast experiences. Mark A. and Helen P.

Charming victorian in primo locatio

Manitu is a lovely little town and the Avenue's location was perfect - right off the main fare, providing easy access to shops, restaurants and galleries. Gwen and Randy were very friendly and available to address any of our questions or needs. Gwen also serves a lovely breakfast. We stayed four days and had different breakfasts each day.

Manitou Jewel

Manitou Jewel In our Colorado journeys, we stumbled upon the Avenue House, and what a treasure we found. We were greeted by the proprietor Gwen and her daughter Anna along with the aroma of freshly baked cookies and an offering of a glass of wine…need I say more? The home was absolutely lovely; the third B & B that we “lived” at in our travels, it was full of charm and coziness. We felt welcomed and at home for the next couple of nights. The place had fresh cut tulips and roses to make the rooms so alive. The claw tub was a dream to fill with bubbles and slip away to a different century! The home was spotless yet comfortable to cuddle on the couch and watch TV by the fireplace. The breakfast was scrumptious…I learned how to bake grapefruit; coming from Florida you would think I would have already tasted such a delicious treat. Quiche, baked muffins, freshly made juices, and all served on beautiful Victorian dishes. Everyone was very informative on the area and brought new ideas of fun things to do while we were there. We absolutely loved our time staying at the Avenue House, and it will live forever in our hearts as we relived the wonderful memories for years to come. Thank you for your generous hospitality! We miss Colorado and all the fine people we met there! Peace, Debra and Rick June 13, 2009

Clean rooms, great food!

My girlfriend and I usually frequent Manitou Springs several times a year for the cool shops, the penny arcade and the Hungarian goulash served at the European Cafe. This time, we wanted to stay a couple of nights to get a few more attractions in and to be able to see everything we wanted without running out of time. I did a Google search and came up with a few different bed and breakfasts, but this particular site had some great photos of the rooms and was very reasonably priced. We met our host Gwenn on arrival and she was not only very accommodating, but was also an excellent cook. As the other reviews have stated, there were muffins, cookies, quiches, fruit with yogurt, etc. Everything was very delicious. I believe if you stayed in the B & B before last December, it's had a huge change in decor, according to the photos I've seen and it's a vast improvement. The location couldn't be better. You can find parking around the back and then downtown Manitou is literally right outside the front door. The Cog Railway to Pike's Peak is down a few blocks past several antique shops, art and photo galleries, eateries, and other cool shops like the RetroMoto toy store and Dulcimer music shop. Gwenn had plenty of brochures right outside of our room and we came across an ad for a wolf sanctuary that was only about half an hour away from our location. On a whim, we decided to visit and for a small donation of $10 per adult, we had an excellent time. Being able to come back to a clean, well decorated room made our visit one of the best times we've had in Manitou Springs. We love this area, so we'll definitely will be back and will definitely be staying here again.

We'll Be Back

We booked two nights in Feb as an after V-day getaway. Other than one gentleman that checked out our first day, we had the place to ourselves. Gwen was wonderful by providing lunch and dinner recommendations and directions to anything we wanted to see. She even offered off the beaten path tourist destinations. We had breakfast both days and it exceeded our expectations. We will be Back!
