Description
Circa 1745. This stately brick Federal-style inn is just three miles from Emily Dickinson's home and nine miles from the Smith College Museum of Art, which houses works by Picasso, Degas, Monet and Winslow. The inn sits on one and a half acres and is shaded by black walnut trees. Guests who stay there in October can have their fill of free walnuts. The yard is manicured and country flower gardens surround the home. The seven guest bedrooms are all soundproofed to accommodate children. Furnishings include antiques and period reproductions. Guests are served a continental plus breakfast that includes hot fruit pies and muffins, fresh squeezed orange juice and a choice of four different hot entrees. The inn has been featured in the New York Times; it received the 2000 Historical Preservation Award and it won The Maine Yankee Editor's Pick Award.
