Wonderful-very romantic!

We traveled up the coast to Gualala for the holidays and were so glad we chose the Breakers Inn for our stay..after reading about it in Sunset magazine. Incredible...we saw a whale migrating south from our deck. Room was spotless and huge and bed extremely comfortable. Attentive staff with lots of good ideas for day trips. Point Arena Lighthouse is closeby and a good stop on the way to the village of Mendocino (1 hr away). Another fun trip is to visit the Philo Wine Tour down 128 and visit all the Pinot Nior wineries of the Anderson Valley. Had nice dinners at the Sea Ranch and St. Orres, yet can't wait to return to the Breakers - as when we do, they are building a great looking restaurant with a view that can't be beat. Plans are in the lobby and should open in the spring or early summer.

Winter Romance!

My husband and I just returned from our favorite pre-Christmas getaway spot: the coastal village of Gualala. It boasts an excellent art center and several small galleries; fabulous ocean scenery; interesting shopping; and a variety of good places to eat (two don't-miss spots are Trinks, for luscious coffee concoctions, pastries and sandwiches; and Laura's Taqueria, featuring delicious Mexican food made fresh on the premises.) But what draws us back year after year is Breakers Inn. It is the perfect place to sit by a fire, watch the ocean, and write our Christmas cards. You'll find plenty of peace and quiet here (with the occasional squawk of a hungry seagull). The reservation process and check-in were quick and efficient; staff and management are very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are spotless and very nicely furnished; the bathroom has a huge jetted tub (very romantic!). We love the fabulous views, cozy fire, and comfy bed. (Our favorite room is one of the oceanfront suites). In the lobby you can enjoy a generous continental breakfast buffet each morning and complimentary port and sherry each afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Breakers Inn; it has been a regular December treat for many years and we're already looking forward to our next stay there.
