Description
Circa 1895. In the still of the night, you can almost hear the cork boots of the loggers who boarded in this rustic Old-West Frontier inn a century ago. The inn is still surrounded by nearly a million acres of forest, (the Monongahela National Forest). But today, the inn is a welcome respite for work-weary vacationers, who enjoy the picturesque town of Davis for its laid back attitude and its extraordinary altitude. Davis is located at the highest altitude of any town in West Virginia. Its seven guest bedrooms and one suite have charming elements such as antique sleigh beds, hand-made quilts and colorful rugs. A lush herb harden on site contributes to the gourmet country breakfasts that include such hot entrees as wild blueberry pancakes served with homemade blueberry conserve made from local berries. Lunches can be packed upon request. The side yard has picnic tables and a rope hammock. The inn is near the Canaan Valley and Timberline Ski Resorts and all manner of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, and white-water river activities. Cross-country ski packages are available, as well.
