Relaxing and Romantic

As you enter the cute detached cottage, there is a small sticker claiming that Brightwood has been named "One of the Best Places to Kiss in the Northwest", and it's nothing but the truth! Bonnie and Jeff have created a cozy, romantic and relaxing getaway with all the comforts of home. I regret that we only spent one night here, as we left so refreshed and full of delicious food! Close to Mt. Hood and Portland, it's a great getaway for couples or a small family looking for some time away!

I wish I could live here

Bonnie and Jeff take such good care of us every time we visit. I make an effort to eat healthy vegetarian food, and they always get breakfast right - full of flavor and texture, and always something new! And the cabin is artfully done - a lace free zone (I've stayed in many B&Bs and they are often so old-ladyish. Not this one! It's as Pacific Northwest as you can get!)

You can't help but relax!

My husband and I came to Bonnie & Jeff's bed and breakfast in serious need of a relaxing retreat, and we got more pampering and relaxation that we could have hoped for! The many special extras that are included on top of the private cabin B&B experience--1st class soaking tubs, pre-built fire in the outdoor fire pit, basket-of-s'mores fixings, STOCKED cupboards, feather bed mattress, etc., can make even the most stressed, over-worked couple find romance and relaxation!

I love this b & b

If you love to eat a hearty and healthy breakfast, relax in a peaceful and restorative garden, hike, ski, or just be in the mountains - then this is the place for you! And if you like a good soak in one-of-a-kind tubs in the woods then you MUST spend a few luxurious days with Bonnie & Jeff. You will not regret a moment spent here!

We'd do it all again!

We've stayed at a number of B & B's over the years but the Brightwood Guesthouse is the only one we have returned to; in fact, we plan to make it an annual event. We are also sending our kids there when they return from China next summer. The privacy adds to the romance. The addition of the soaking tubs makes this a 5 star stay! Bonnie and Jeff go more than the extra mile.

Rainy romantic weekend

We drove down from Seattle in a driving rainstorm and it seems like it never stopped, all weekend. It mattered not, because we were together in a warm and cozy hideout, for a perfect romantic getaway alone and together. We brought our own favorites foods and wine but nothing compares to the sumptuous breakfast served to us. If we had a complaint, it would be the amount of breakfast, but it was really, really good. For a beautiful, private, quiet, romantic place to reconnect with your lover, this spot is hard to beat. Highly recommended!

An INN is an INN and this inn is IN

If you are looking for a unique, personal, relaxing, comfortable and unforgettable stay - Brightwood Guesthouse is it! Many "inns" these days have as much character as a one-bedroom motel 6. Our top three reason we enjoy staying at the Brightwood B&B (we're repeat visitors): 1) The gourmet breakfasts are out of this world and keep us energized well past lunch if we're skiing! 2) Bonnie and Jeff are the warmest and friendliest innkeepers you'll run across anywhere. They give a real-life meaning to northwest hospitality. 3) The guesthouse is, of all things, restorative. If it's the sounds of the trickling creek, light rain on the windows or the breeze in the swaying trees you will know by the time you leave that something from nature has been restored in you. You will not be disappointed at this place!

A lovely, serene, secluded retreat not far from Portland. Beautiful setting. Fantastic breakfast in the morning. Wonderful hosts. An absolute treasure.

Last days of just the two of us

Our visit to the Brightwood was absolutely perfect-- it was the last thing my husband and I did together that was special and romantic before the birth of our first child. Though 6 or 7 months pregnant, I was completely comfortable in the homey and inviting interior of the cabin and took full advantage of the hot soaking tubs. The tubs are adjusted to just the right temperature and are out by the creek surrounded by a gorgeous grove of enormous trees. It felt very private though the owners, Jeff and Bonnie, are always right nearby when you have any special requests or need some advice on where to hike or eat out. We really enjoyed just lounging around, reading and eating the delicious and healthy breakfast Jeff and Bonnie made for us in the morning. And right nearby is one of the the most beautiful walks I've ever been on, along the Salmon River, which is the perfect compliment to all the lazing about back at the cabin. A final perk to our stay was getting to "hang-out" with Panda, the most adorable, fluffy and friendly little dog who comes to visit the guests periodically. Panda was the icing on the cake of a perfect stay at Brightwood!

Your every need is anticipated here

This beautifully-decorated, private guest house sitsalong a small creek and amidst two acres of peaceful, secluded surroundings with many spots to linger and enjoy—a private deck with a koi pond, a creekside hammock, outdoor varnished cypress hot soaking tubs next to an outdoor fireplace, and well-tended gardens— one can’t help but be simply blissful here! The guest house itself is not particularly large, but your hosts have put great care into making the house self-contained, with a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable nestling areas, and sumptuous queen bed located up steep steps to a sleeping alcove! Innkeepers Bonnie and Jeff Rames consider your every need, from providing a range of teas and snacks, pampering toiletries, fresh flower arrangements, books, and movies to preparing an outdoor campfire for your enjoyment. With a little advance notice, they are able to arrange on-site massages or almost any other romantic delight you can imagine. At whatever time you request, you will anticipate Bonnie’s cheerful morning knock bearing breakfast trays loaded with gourmet and lovingly prepared frittatas, stratas, fresh fruit, and housmade pastry delights. With a guestbook that instructs to “play as children and ignore all chores”, you will never want to leave this amazing gem! Between the peaceful, secluded surroundings, Bonnie and Jeff’s scrumptious gourmet cooking, and an entire house to yourselves, the two of you are practically guaranteed to fall in love all over again.

quiet and peaceful

I found this B&B over the internet, and liked it because it was away from Portland but not too far. My husband and I used it for our last getaway weekend before the birth of our 3rd child. I was 8 months pregnant! Going up and down the stairs to the loft was a little tough for those night-time bathroom breaks, but it was worth it. Quiet and peaceful, I spent much of our weekend sleeping, watching videos, writing in journals and talking with my husband. We walked around a bit and it was beautiful. The hot tubs were just being installed or I would have been in one (for 10 minutes only, of course, being pregnant!). I can't wait to go back and sit in the tub for an hour! The food was fabulous and they provided a late night snack of cheese, crackers, fruit, and sparkling cider without charge. Note: The guesthouse is attached to the owners' house. They were very unobtrusive, though. A fabulous place for 1 or 2 people to find peace.

Peaceful Romance

Nature lovers at heart, we found the Brightwood Guesthouse a peaceful, beautiful retreat. It was a perfect place to reconnect with each other with plenty of room to stretch out and relax after a day of hiking. We were delighted to be the first to soak in the handmade tubs. Not only was a bottle of wine on hand, we also had candles, a firepit and s'more makings in the outdoor cabana. Very romantic. Breakfast was scrumptious, the grounds meticulously kept, and the hosts interesting and informative. We hope to return.

Beautiful and life altering

My girlfriend and I have had to deal with the stresses of a long distance relationship for too long... The anxiety became too much, and we had to separate. This happened shortly before our (prepaid) trip to Brightwood so we decided to stay anyway. This was the greatest decision I have ever made. You need this to get away from the stress that is out of your control, and enjoy the picturesque surroundings unencumbered by anything other than your love. Besides taking care of EVERYTHING, they even have a guest "bill of rights" that ORDERS you to act like children, to make a mess, and to give it all up... While things may never work with my love, we will always have this bond thanks to a sublime night.
