Santa Barbara offers all that a traveler seeking plenty of sunshine, sandy beaches and romance would ever need. Many are also delighted to find out that there is a plethora of wineries to enjoy. Legend has it that Father Junipero Serra brought the county's first grapevine cuttings from Mexico in 1872 and planted them in the rich soil of Sycamore Creek. Now there are over 100 vineyards! Wineries specialize in tropical Chardonnay and Pinot Noir which blend nicely with the lush Santa Barbara climate.
