Catnip at The Cat's Meow

We really enjoyed the serene and private atmosphere. Everything was great. One little suggestion - put the television on a higher stand. The beautiful bed-footboard blocked the bottom of the screen.

Cat's Meow B&B - Calico Cabin

We heard about this B&B by word-of-mouth, after a co-worker had stayed at the Catnip Cabin, and we decided to give it a try. The property is secluded, but easy to find, and located just 8 miles away from the quaint little German town of Fredericksburg, TX, which provides many different specialty shops, restaurants and seasonal events for tourists. The typical, dry, Texas surroundings can be deceiving as you enter the property. But don't let that first look disappoint you! I likened it to the scene in the Wizard of Oz, where the movie transitioned from black-and-white to full color, as Dorothy steps outside. Only here, that experience happens as you step inside, when you enter your cabin for the first time. Soft and welcoming music will be playing as you leave the stresses of your world behind you, and step inside to a romantic little world and hide-a-way, that seems to have been lovingly prepared just for you, and no one else. Not over-priced, the Calico Cabin was extremely cozy, even without adding the optional "romantic packages" which are available to guests, and which we also took advantage of (finding that option to be well worth the additional cost). A 20% active-duty Military discount was also offered, and was greatly appreciated, making our overall stay even more affordable. Adjustible lighting throughout, in order to set the atmosphere and mood; a jacuzi-style tub; a cozy, two-sided fireplace that faces the living area on one side, and the jacuzi on the other; comfortable, queen-size bed; nice furninshings; a television cabinet that rolls to face any area of the cabin that you desire it to, with satellite TV and music: full kitchen, and a selection of wines and champagnes available within the cabin. There is also a continental-style breakfast that is prepared and brought to the cabin, usually timed to arrive during your absences, and placed in the refrigerator for the next morning, with fruit juice, and a coffee pot to brew your own coffee or tea, in the cabin. Texas wildlife (deer, roadrunners, squirrels, foxs, etc.) are often visible outside of your cabin in the mornings and evenings, along with several very friendly cats that also reside on the property, and belong to the owners. Their website is easy to use and it gives you a good taste of what’s available here. The owners are great, and they will readily work with you to plan and provide any additional amenities that you might need, in order to make your stay the absolute perfect experience. We loved our stay, and would not hesitate to stay here again!

Rustic Elegance in Tx Hill Country

We loved our stay! The Cat's Meow is the perfect "get away from it all"! Almost so good that I want to keep it secret! The cabins are cozy and have beautiful porches with rocking chairs to watch the sunrise, sunset or the deer. The night sky is beautiful with more stars than you can count. The inside was rustic but elegant. The bed was very comfortable and the linens and curtains were very romantic. The best part of our cabin (Calico) was the whirlpool tub with the double sided fireplace that can be seen from both the tub and the living room area. I can't wait to go back!!!

Catnip

My fiance and I stayed at Cats Meow B&B when he came home from Iraq on his mid-tour. We were very impressed with the size and ambiance of the cottage we stayed in. It was nicely decorated and had many amenities that we haven't had at other bed and breakfasts (grill, kitchen, oven, etc). However, our biggest disappointment was the fact that we were basically on our own for breakfast. Breakfast was put in a refrigerator the day prior and consisted of a danish, and some juice, which was not what we've come to expect from a bed and "breakfast." We just felt like we were paying quite a bit to stay somewhere and enjoy that experience but we didn't get it. We wish that the fact that a full breakfast isn't served was posted on the website when we were looking to book the room. If so we could have been more prepared and have brought food with us. The entire process was done without seeing the property owners at all, that's why we rated the service so low, there really wasn't service to speak of; though, it was nice to just have time alone. The experience wasn't terrible. We would probably stay again, we'll just be better prepared next time.

Romantic Getaway

This place is secluded in a nice countryside/woodsy location, but is right off a major highway and close to town for easy access to city life, if need be. The cabins are luxurious, clean, beautiful and well-designed, and it was the most perfect place I could've asked for to spend my honeymoon. I loved it, and can't wait to go back there again!

Loved it!

We really enjoyed this B&B. The place was a fantastic, quiet, and romantic get-away. It was our own little house in the country. We are planning on going back and trying the fireplace.

Romantic

The was the greatest romatic stay ever. Everything was outstanding I would recommend this little private and affordable get-a-way to everyone. The location was great and the B&B was beautiful. It was clean and modern and everthing you need was right there. With the right person I could stay there forever!

Owners are very rude

We called ahead to ask directions and we were told we should have looked at thier e-mail. Then told, in a very rude tone, that check in is at 3. Not a problem, we just wanted to find it, then run around town, etc.. -they saw us drive by and came all the way out to chew us out and tell us to leave thier property. -never met anyone so rude in my life. I am amazed they are in business!!!
