Christine's B&B - Stay Away !

Both my wife and I were disappointed with Christine’s B&B Inn & Tearoom in Stockbridge, MA. While everything appeared to look good on our arrival, there were some obvious and not-so-obvious aspects that left us feeling as if we’d been had. One of the rooms we were shown had a strong smell of dampness and mold. We did not take this room and I noticed later that it was built where the garage had been previously so it sat on a cement slab on ground level. Our own room seemed to be more odor free yet both of us developed sore throats and coughs the next day. Something that is seemingly trivial but which tells me that insufficient care was devoted to it is when the various printed materials contain typos and other errors of spelling or grammar. Such was the case with Christine’s materials. We stayed only the one night and would have relocated elsewhere if we were staying in the area longer. Breakfast was poor, perhaps the first time I can recall a B&B’s breakfast being poor. While Chirstine sure looked the part in her chef’s suit or uniform, breakfast was poor. My fried eggs were burned such that roughly one third of the white was crisped to a thin brownish layer. If I were in charge of the breakfast, I would have redone the eggs. Her chef’s uniform wasn’t enough to help her figure this out. Another glaring omission was that there was no breakfast meat (or naything other than toast) to accompany the eggs, nor even an offer of any. Breakfast was fruit with some “fruit bread” and two eggs. Coffee and tea were provided; her husband handled the refills (perhaps he also “cooked” the eggs?). When I asked Christine what type of “milk” she provided for the coffee, she replied that it was “half and half”. When I tasted it, I tasted nothing that tasted like cream or milk. Instead, I tasted what seemed to me to be a non-dairy creamer. Why would she feel the need to lie about such a thing? This left a very bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. We left feeling ripped off (at $157 per night for two eggs and nondairy creamer) and will not stay there again. Spare yourself the disappointment and stay somewhere else.
