Circa 1855. Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Mark Twain are among the DeSoto's famous guests. An original winding staircase still graces the lobby, and a ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows is used for banquets. The renovated hotel, which is listed in the National Register, features comfortable rooms. There are a variety of dining options. The Courtyard, located in a four-story, sun-lit atrium serves breakfast and lunch. The Generals' Restaurant, named to honor Galena's nine Civil War generals, is open for dinner. The hotel also includes Green Street Tavern, which serves more casual fare.
