Disappointed with Doe Run Inn

I had a surprise guest and was lucky to make last minute arrangements for his stay at Doe Run Inn. The good luck ended up being a very bad experience. He arrived late and the key was left on the desk for him because all employees were gone for the night. Because of lack of any kind of service he decided not to stay the second night I had made arrangements for. He left at 8 am the next morning leaving the key on the desk. My checking account was charged for two nights instead of just the one he stayed and an additional $50.00 because he smoked in the room. If an employee had been there he might have been informed smoking was not allowed and he could have told them when he left he would not be staying the second night. I called Doe Run after seeing the debit to my account but was very unhappy with her lack of concern and received no refund. I would never recommend Doe Run again.

It's a steal

The previous reviewer has NO IDEA what a privilege it is to stay somewhere like the Doe Run for $50 a night. Most B&Bs in historic places in idyllic settings are at least $200. The Doe Run might not have a 24-hour clerk, but it's not a hotel either. It's a country inn like on Newhart.
