Sophisticated,Elegant Accomodations
Had the pleasure of staying at this inn in the Firmstone Manor Room. Appointments were lovely and clean. High thread count sheets were ironed, which is a particularly nice touch. Wonderful breakfast was served in the bedroom at my request - on Catherine the Great Russian china with sterling utensils - nothing is spared in the comfort of the guest.
I did not bring a pet, but noted that this facility would be extremely pet friendly. The innkeeper had two delightful and gentle dogs; I would have gladly brought either home with me. The Innkeeper herself, Barbara, is creative and intelligent, having traveled the world and evidently gleaned everything she could on these travels. Conversation was never boring.
There is an old motel next door that the innkeeper is remodeling, and it provides an interesting bit of historical americana on the property. It harks to the times when Americans traveled much more to small local destinations - these times are so well recorded in antique postcard collections.

A delightful stay
We recently enjoyed a 2-night stay at Firmstone Manor. This beautiful old home has been stunningly decorated and furnished. Everywhere you look, there’s another unique item for you to enjoy and wonder about its history. Hosts Barbara and Charles are friendly and helpful (she’s a real hoot). Stay here and you will enjoy breakfast that is a feast for the eyes and tastebuds too. Relax in your comfortable room or venture out to listen to the birds while lounging in the porch swing or hammock. Take a walk down the tree-lined front lane and you’ll find a babbling brook just outside the main entrance. If you’re feeling adventurous, Firmstone Manor is conveniently located for day trips to Douthat State Park (paddle the lake or do some hiking) and the nearby towns of Warm Springs, Clifton Forge, Covington, and Lexington. If you are interested in them, two resident doggies will accept your attention, but rest assured they are impressively well behaved and will not approach unless invited. B&B accommodation is our favorite way to travel, and Firmstone Manor stands out.

Not worth it
For almost $160 a night this place is a huge disappointment. The manor is dirty and does not live up to expectations. We had to come over to the manor twice before anyone was there to greet us. I would not suggest this location to anyone.
