Description
Circa 1893. A centerpiece of the quiet Village of Hyde Park, Vermont, nine miles from Stowe, this historic Georgian/Victorian 1893 mansion offers modern comfort with the gracious elegance of an earlier time. Totally restored and decorated with period furnishings, the inn boasts spectacular woodwork, a Vermont marble foyer and drinking fountain, mirrored mantelpieces and original gas lighting fixtures. Full English afternoon tea is served in the library or on the pillared portico with a mountain view. Guest bedrooms feature fireplaces and antique clawfoot tubs. Pleasing treats include Toll House cookies, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream or hot chocolate at bedtime. Small private events, intimate weddings and the romantic elopement special are popular. Consider the "elopement in a hot-air balloon" package or Jane Austen events and weekends.
