Circa 1912. This hotel's first owner named the historic building after the ship that brought him to America. In its heyday as a lodging for those traveling by train, the Argo hosted several governors. Eventually the hotel served other purposes, as a sanitarium and then as offices for a Crofton family doctor. The brother and sister team of Sandra McDonald and Jerry Bogner, both Crofton natives, returned to their hometown to purchase and restore this historic gem after it had fallen into disrepair. The two did an amazing job, including things guests won't see, such as replacing the electrical and plumbing systems. What guests will find are well-appointed rooms, fine woodwork and a sense of turn-of-the-century nostalgia. As is traditional of an Old West hotel, several of the bathrooms are shared, but robes are provided for guests. The honeymoon suite includes a private bath with a whirlpool tub.
