Description
Circa 1847. Friendship, food and hospitality are found in abundance at these historic accommodations sitting on 43 acres of hill country. Both main buildings are from the 1800s. The hand-hewn timber-rock house was built by a German pioneer. The Danville Schoolhouse was moved here in 1990 and restored while retaining original floors, walls, roof and design. Table games are enjoyed in the common room. Some guest bedrooms feature whirlpools and are wheelchair accessible. Deer Haven is a spacious five-room cottage boasting a full kitchen, whirlpool tub, deck and large patio area. A hearty country breakfast may include homemade breads and baked goods, egg entrees, hash brown potatoes, grits and pancakes. Breakfast is served family style, so no one leaves the table hungry as heaping second helpings often keep guests full until dinner. Horseshoes, croquet, walking trails and fishing are popular outside activities.

Historic Interest | The original German rock home is a 1847 pioneer homestead, and it has thick walls and the original cedar timber and rough cut wood. The original 1863 one-room schoolhouse has hardwood floors, a chalkboard, and covered porches on each side. Additions were made with recycled rocks from a local church and county jailhouse. The front step from the jailhouse is in front of the fireplace 10" thick by 8 ft. long. Historic Awards:
