Amazing

My mother, brother, and I discovered the Schug House Inn after I finished fourth grade. We decided to tour wonderful Indiana, and we ended up staying at the inn. We just recently went back. I love the place, it is very charming, clean, and comfortable. The downtown about half a mile down the road is quaint and holds many cute shops. I plan to go back there with my friend. I would recommend that everyone try it out, because once you go you are hooked!

Always Enjoy schug House Inn

We have been going just about every year since our children were 3 years old. We stubbled across it in a book discover Indiana. Having small children you normally can't stay at a bed and breakfast. Now that Our children are gone and one in High school. My husband and I still come back just about every year. John and his wife always make you feel welcome, like they known you for years. This will be our 21st anniversary in 2010 and yes we are going to The Schug House to Celebrate.

Lovely and Calming

My husband and I have stayed here twice, and though it has been awhile since those trips (kids can do that to you), we look back fondly and have many times discussed trying to get a weekend away to go back. The innkeepers and the people they hire to help out are wonderful. The rooms are beautiful including a wonderful upstairs porch that is perfect for curling up with a good book. The town is quiet with some good local restaurants.

Heartfelt

My family and I lived in this beautiful home from 1975-1980. We loved the home and the town of Berne to raise our two daughters. I came back for a visit with a dear friend and she treated me with a two night stay in my old home. I cannot tell you the memories and love I felt during my stay. Remembering the holidays our families would come to visit us. The Halloween parade our girls would freeze in their baton twirling outfits, birthday parties with their friends. Thank you for a wonderful visit. Diane Badorek

Best Ever

This was the first Bed and Breakfast we ever stayed in and I LOVED it. My kids thought it was great. The traffic no problem. The Amish ridding by was great. Would and will go back!

We'll be back

Our first experience with a B&B and it was a good one. Schug was clean and comfortable and all the charm of 1800's living. The employees were great, very accomodating, extremely friendly, and competent. The bedroom was comfortable and breakfast was better than expected. On the down side, right on main street and vehicle noise wasn't good while sitting on the lovely porch, but not noticeable when we retired for the night.

My Favorite Inn

My husband and I have stayed here many times over the last 10 years. We have enjoyed it every time. The rooms are always clean and ready for us when we arrive. There is a quiet atmosphere about the inn that is very relaxing. The breakfast fills you up and is delicious. The Innkeepers and staff are always caring and helpful. They make us feel right at home in this beautiful house. I will continue to visit this wonderful Bed and Breakfast Inn.

Great Price, Friendly Service

My husband and I love coming here when we need a little break. It is so calm and quiet in the inn. Best of all, it is so inexpensive, we get a whole night away for what we would have spent on a steakhouse dinner! There isn't much to do in Berne in the fall and winter months, so bring a book and plan on hanging out at the inn.

InnSide Tip - Some pointers
Local Attractions: - All the shops in Berne close pretty early in the evening, and it is almost impossible to find anything open on Sunday. - Check out Amishville USA (Only open May through Sept). - Bear Creek Farms is nearby and pretty fun, but only during the warm months. In the winter almost everything is closed. - The buffet at Bear Creek Farms is excellent. At the Inn: - Bring socks or slippers, the floors in the inn are freezing! - The TVs in the rooms are really tiny, so I wouldn't plan on watching movies. - You can choose your breakfast time, but the later in the morning, the more likely they are to run low on your favorite local pastries. - Sound carries well through the halls, so make sure you are thoughtful of your "neighbors"

An annual favorite!

Our extended family likes to rent at the Schug House every year when we have activities planned in the area. All the kids look forward to staying at the "villa" house next to the Inn, which can accommodate whole families or several teens. We love swapping stories with the owners, who are experts on the local community and history! Thank you for all the fun!

Mary Ann DeMay

We stay at Schug Inn when we are in town for our Family's Reunion. Verrrryy welcoming. Owners John & Jane are very accomodating. Staff is always helpful. Lehman Park and the public pool are nearby. Bedrooms all have their own bathrooms which is a bonus. "Downtown" Berne is a short walk and a MUST. Very friendly city to visit. Nightlife is very hard to find except for Hap's - stop in for a MOP burger and a drink.
