Would not go back

I stayed at the Holman House two nights and could not wait to get out of there. We went with a larger group of 10+ for a conference with ages ranging from 27-60. Although the house is beautiful, I have two complaints about the service. First, the bathroom cleanliness, and second, friendliness of the proprietor (or lack of friendliness!). The owners have 2 daughters who live in 2 of the bedrooms when no guests are booked, and I have to say that the bathrooms where not as clean as they should have been. We were a little grossed out by the hairs we found in the bathroom tub, sink and on the bathroom floor. But the female owner's behavior was what made the experience less than desirable and sealed the deal for me that I would not go back. We arrived for our stay in the later evening - around 8:30 or 9:00pm. The female owner was skulking around while we were trying to get everything moved into our rooms upstairs - she was just watching us and telling us what NOT to do the whole time. It was a little annoying, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. Then, she kept trying to get us to go into our rooms and keep our doors closed even though our group occupied the entire 2nd floor - that was more annoying. (After she did this to about 5 or 6 of us, several of us started referring to her the door nazi.) I'm not a smoker, but she told a couple of my friends in the group who were outside smoking around 10:00pm that she didn't want them to go outside any more that night and wanted them to go into their rooms and close the doors. (Basically telling them to go to bed.) These friends of mine are grown women in their mid-30's and were being very quiet because they are respectable of others. Of course, my friends apologized and graciously complied. But good grief! The female owners was basically treating all of us like we were children. That was the final straw of her control-freakishness for me. I avoided her at all costs the next day. Her husband was very nice, friendly, and hospitable, but she needs to work on her OCD or something. She made the stay somewhat unpleasant for many of us. To be honest, she really was a bit of a snob.
