Worst hotel experience ever

Hands-down my worst hotel experience ever. I made a reservation for 4 nights. At noon the day after night 3, I got an email message telling me that check out was at 11:00 and they have packed my bags for me. I forward the email confirmation showing 4 nights, but they still deny it and claim that their books show only 3 nights! She actually yelled at me and said that they did not overbook and did not make a mistake--as if I was trying to pull a fast one on them by now wanting to stay another night. She suggested that I use their phone to call other nearby hotels to try to find a place for the night. I told them that if they would not honor their contract, they should at least find a place for me--and pay for it. After about half an hour, the owner called & said that she'd changed her mind and I could stay that night (not that I really wanted to any more). No apology. No champagne to the room, no discount on my stay. Nothing. Adding insult to injury, the next day, I get another email from the hotel, saying that they'd charged my credit card for the last night (which meant they charged my card for $579 even though the email confirmation quoted a price of $469). I've asked that they refund the charges, although I have no real expectation that they will--which means I'll now have to take this up with my credit card company. And to top it all off, the room smelled funny and had centipedes.

Greatest Time

What a delightful treat in the middle of Madison. Absolutely, unquestionably, the best time I've spent in a hotel or otherwise. B&Bs are the only way to go! Thank you!

Great location, great stay

We were dropping off our youngest daughter at UW-Madison and wanted to explore the Madison, Wisconsin Campus area. We wanted to bike around the beautiful city and our friends recommended Arbor House as a great place to stay. Rooms were spacious, quiet, friendly staff, and a great location for upcoming Badger games and visits. You feel like family when you stay at Arbor House and would recommend again. The arboretum is directly across the street, and quaint shopping is just a few blocks away. This video captures everything we were looking for. Grret time and we will stay here again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9BnOd4uGwg

Favorite place to stay!

This is by far our favorite place to stay! It is located in a friendly neighborhood, centrally located in Madison. Close to one of Madison's many bike paths, across the street from the UW Arboretum, and in walking distance to great neighborhood eateries, the Arbor House is in an ideal location. But the real pampering takes place inside where attention to detail is top-notch! We have been fortunate to have stayed in several of Arbor House's 8 rooms, each with its own unique style. Each room is bright, comfortable, clean and airy unlike typical sterile hotel rooms that lack character. Rooms are equipped with environmentally friendly essentials and more, books for reading, and charm. Breakfast is a treat featuring gourmet foods to start your day right. Arbor House goes above and beyond also serving a late afternoon snack and cocktail AND then dessert in the evening! Cathie pays attention to the needs of her guests and truly delights in making their stay special.
