A Truly Special Place

My husband and I recently stayed at On Cranberry Pond for a 5-day mini vacation and had the most wonderful time. Jeannine and Ken are superb hosts who treated us like family. We have been to B & B's all throughout New England is this is our favorite by far. We were looking for a place to stay that would allow us to explore the area with ease, and On Cranberry Pond was perfect. It truly is in the middle of everything. We took day trips to Plymouth, New Bedford and Sandwich, which were all within a 20-40 minute drive. Jeannine made the most wonderful breakfast each morning – omelets with fresh herbs from her garden, eggs benedict, quiche, and best of all her special puffy pancakes with apples and cranberries. We called it the "no lunch necessary breakfast". Jeannine and Ken obviously love what they do. It isn't just a business for them, but a part of their lives. We enjoyed chatting with them and getting to know them so much that we weren't in a hurry to leave on our day trips. It was good for two fast-paced New Yorkers to slow down a bit. We stayed in the Native American room, a suite blessed by an area Chief. It was like a mini-apartment and had a special aura. And the setting is truly beautiful. Every morning, we had breakfast on the porch (even when it was chilly) just so that we could take in the scenery – the cranberry bogs, the pond, and the forest beyond. Bird watching was another favorite pass time. We were especially enamored with the hummingbirds. We can't wait to return again. Next time, we will invite more family and friends.

Friendly, Comfort and Cranberries

On Cranberry Pond B&B is the perfect name for the bed and breakfast my husband and I stayed at for 4 nights to attend a family reunion. It is located on a cranberry bog and the name reminds me of the movie On Golden Pond which dealt with family relationships. Jeannine and Ken make you feel that you've come home once you enter their place. The accomdations are comfortable and attractive. The breakfasts are splendid. You will not need lunch after being stuffed with Jeannine's puffy cranberry pancakes. She even had a lactose free version that was also yummy for my husband to enjoy.

My home away from home

I have to visit the New England market on a regular basis. My company suggested On Cranberry Pond as others have stayed here. I have not been big on BnB’s as a destination in the past, but the caretakers at On Cranberry Pond take the experience to an entirely different level. Jeannine is very welcoming and extremely hospitable. I rarely eat breakfast when I am at home but Jeannine does not let you leave unless you have breakfast. It’s the only way you can leave. Her meals are prepared fresh every morning and they taste OUTSTANDING! The comforts that she provides is far better than anyone can expect which is why I make this my destination The house is right on an active cranberry bog. If you are lucky to be visiting during the cranberry harvest you will witness one of nature’s beauties. The location is calm, quiet and open to a lot of nature and fishing. It is a joy having a place to stay like On Cranberry Pond. The time spent away from my own family is suppressed a little as I feel right at home here.

On Cranberry Pond

As soon as I arrive, Jeannine sets me up with a cup-a-tea and a cranberry flapjack down by the pond. The nip of an autumn breeze rustles the maple leaves above, fish send ripples, a water flume tinkles a calm in my left ear, and the buzz of late-afternoon insects crescendos into a Jiminy-Cricket sing-song of busy little legs. Everything soothes: the space, the water and Jeanine’s flapjack – a delicious thick layer of cranberry under a crumble-crust of sugary oat. Life here is like this everyday, and as a guest you are treated like family. Jeanine and Kenny’s B&B On Cranberry Pond set in the heart of cranberry country delivers all the mom-and-pop peace and quiet you could want, and the innkeepers will become your friends. I have made many visits, staying here while reporting on several cranberry harvests – in words and photography – for various publications around the globe, including Martha Stewart Living, The UK Sunday Times and Vogue, Australia, and Jeanine and Kenny have made every stay perfect. Not only that, they have actively helped me with my work, assisting in every way they could, and then there’s all the delicious homemade things that get effortlessly rustled up in Jeanine’s kitchen. Loosen that waistband, you’ll so want to.

Peaceful Getaway

I had the pleasure of meeting Jeannine and staying at her beautiful Bed and Breakfast during this past summer. She greated me with open arms. As soon as I walked through the front door, I was overcome with feelings of comfort, relaxation, and warmness - everything one would hope to feel while away from their home. I was lucky to get a tour of the Bed and Breakfast and get a peek at all the wonderful rooms and how they were all set up. I must admit, the Master Suite with the jacuzzi definitely caught my fancy, but was occupied at the time. I made a mental note of that room. I was treated to Jeannine's wonderful and infamous Puffy Pancakes, and boy were they delicious! I stuffed my face until I couldn't eat anymore. Overall, Jeannine and her husband Ken are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. They welcome you with open arms and they treat you like kings and queens while you're there. They will always hold a very special and dear part of my heart. I absolutely recommend this quaint bed and breakfast to anyone who plans a visit to the area for their stay.

peace, quiet and laughter

Having stayed in many B&B's all over the world, I can tell you that On Cranberry Pond is idyllic. I've been a guest of Jeannine and family every year since the Inn opened in the early 90's. Not only are the rooms clean and cozy, well decorated with intelligent resources, but each one has its own special view. From every window you can look out across the soft and rolling landscape - in any season, its New England at its best. Jeannine and Ken are there to assist you with anything you need (including a great sense of humor). They also appreciate the importance of quiet time and anonymity. As a writer, director and life coach, I have been able to use their amenities in the most beneficial ways - from holding workshops and community gatherings to sabbaticals for writing... On Cranberry Pond has been every bit as inspirational to me as Walden was for Thoreau. On top of all these attributes is the yummy food. Ken and Jeannine concoct the most delicious gourmet take on East Coast essentials (and, get this, they like to do it! They might've even caught your breakfast earlier that morning!) You'll be asking for the recipe before you leave. Having the insiders insight on all things from where to walk, shop, sight see, to steering the canoe round their pond, these guys will make sure you get just the trip you need. You'll leave feeling nurtured, 'natured' and looking forward to coming back. I always do.

Home away from Home

We stayed here for several months while relocating from out of state. Jeannine made the transition so much easier. The Inn is clean, friendly and truly a home away from home. We loved being able to walk around the bogs. Situated between Boston and the Cape it is a great place to stay.

Wonderful Stay!

Jeannine hosted my bridal party the night before my wedding. The stay was very memorable, and we had a lovely time. Everything was perfect; the rooms, grounds and the breakfast. I would recommended "On Cranberry Pond" to anyone who has a group of people looking for a wonderful place to stay.

A wonderful home away from home

On Cranberry Pond is an amazing place and for me it is like another home when I visit Massachusetts. It's a place where I feel comfortable and at home. It's a cozy place that overlooks some of the best views of New Englad landscape, especially Massachusetts. It overlooks a gorgeous cranberry bog and a quaint little pond on either side of the Inn. There are endless activities that include canoeing, bird watching, long walks through trails, fishing, bike riding, and a long list of movies when one wants to stay in for an afternoon or evening. The innkeeper is friendly and loving and will take care of you as if you are family. Jeannine makes some of the best food I have ever had and her puffy pancake is beyond words. If you want to go off the property you are close to some great locations full of history, shopping, and great people such as Boston, Plymouth with the original historical colony, Salem where the witch trials took place, Cape Cod, and even the town of Middleboro has activities to partake in. Middleboro offers local restaurants for dinner as well as shopping centers. The town as a whole has the New England charm that so many look for when they visit this area. I wouldn't want to stay elsewhere if I were to be in the area. If you're looking for a relaxing and enjoyable time with fantastic, loving people in such a serene area then On Cranberry Pond is where one should go.

Where guests become quick friends.

I have been a guest at On Cranberry Pond Bed and Breakfast (OCP B&B) since our first visit in 1994. I was looking for a place for my two daughters – Kelly (10) and Erin (5), at that time – would feel as if they were at home. Instead of the cramped quarters that a hotel often has to offer; needless to say our choice to stay at On Cranberry Pond more than exceeded all of our initial expectations. Although OCP B&B is beautifully located next to a working cranberry bog; as much there is plenty of open and wooden property for children and adult alike to play, explore and become completely lost to the workings of everyday events – it was the inn keeper Jeannine LaBossiere and her son Tim who made all experiences truly a wonderful and unique experience. It is for these reasons that we have been back at least once each year for the past 16 years and we have no plans of ever changing, from what has now become a family tradition. My job has me traveling on a regular basis, which you may imagine means many and many hotel stays; including international travel. In fact I traveled on such a regular basis that I have 1.2 million hotel points with a multi-national hotel chain. For all the benefits that my hotel status offers me, it is in no way what I and my daughters receive when we are quest of Jeannine, her son Tim and now her husband Ken Krushas. I could gone on and on and on, for quite sometime – as you might imagine for the sixteen years of wonderful visits with Jeannine, Kenny and Tim – in fact, they would be the first to let you know without hesitation that I will – if we ever meet at OCP B&B. I will say that if you are fortunate to visit, just for one evening, you will be delighted at the presence that Jeannine and Kenny bring to your stay and you will most likely have the opportunity to meet many of the regular repeat friends who have visited easily three or more times. I would not consider any of the repeat regulars as anything but friends, because Jeannine and Ken makes all feel as if they are always more than just guests. Give ‘On Cranberry Pond Bed and Breakfast’ a try – see if you don’t become one of the many who keep coming back. I know you will not be disappointed and that you would quickly become one of the many, many repeat friends – who are looking forward to the next time to see Jeannine, Kenny and Tim. If you’re very, very fortunate you might just get one of my many, many, many – not so short – tails out of me, because I am sure to be there again and again – naturally with at least one my daughters. Best regards, Arthur T. Bresse

Serenity and ammenties

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful retreat, nestled peacefully at the edge of a cranberry bog--far enough away from the bustle of everyday life, yet close enough for access when you so desire. You're within a short jaunt to historic Plymouth, Boston, ocean beaches, great seafood--the list is endless. Or, just stay put and relax on the wonderful deck or stroll the grounds with a camera. Jeannine and Kenny make you feel right at home and spoil you with great breakfasts and treat-you-like-a-king hospitality. You will fall in love and want to return.

Innkeeper, Jeaninne, makes you feel like royalty! She goes out of her way to provide the little extras that you don't expect, but really appreciate. The gourmet breakfast is wonderful and she is happy to accommodate any special dietary needs. The location is quiet and relaxing, yet convenient for both business & tourist needs.

Home Away From Home

As soon as you drive down the long, winding road to On Cranberry Pond Bed & Breakfast, be prepared to check your worries at the door. Upon entering, you are welcomed by the friendly Innkeepers Jeannine & Kenny. The entire atmosphere is country at its best; nestled between a soothing pond and an expansive cranberry bog. I enjoyed watching the occasional deer and swans from my deck view. The rooms are always clean, cozy, and have all the ammenities you need for a relaxing get-away! The homemade "Puffy Pancake" topped with icecream was featured on Chronicle, and now I can see why! Although it is very close to many major highways, I enjoy the peace and quiet, relaxing by th pond in the hammock. If you need a place to decompress, enjoy nature, and feel welcomed like family, On Cranberry Pond is the place to be!

Attention to Details

Jeannine and Ken's attention to details - including their guests' comfort, the welcoming design of the rooms, the vast range of amenities available, both onsite and nearby, the gourmet breakfasts, the warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the incredibly beautiful location of the inn - all contribute to a B and B experience that one will want to repeat many times over. I have enjoyed Jeannine and Ken's hospitality on several occasions, and I can vouch first-hand for their expertise in meeting the specific needs of their guests - whether honeymooning, on business, or just getting away. And when the occasion calls for a romantic setting, On Cranberry Pond is the place to go. I would not hesitate for a second to recommend On Cranberry Pond Bed and Breakfast to anyone traveling in the southeastern area of Massachusetts.

7 week stay was wonderful

Jeannine, the InnKeeper, makes you feel very welcome no matter whether you stay one day or 50 days. Her breakfasts are delicious, innovative, and healthy. She is flexible with her scheduling and works hard to accomodate all of her guests schedules and eating preferences. The location is peaceful, serene, and quiet. There are lots of trails for hiking or benches for resting. I will definitely visit again!

This Is The Place!

I stayed at On Cranberry Pond in the Cranberry Room for 6 nights (June 17-23, 2011) while visiting family and exploring the Cape Cod area. The title of my review says it all - this is the ONLY place you will stay on future visits, once you've experienced Jeannine and Ken's warm New England hospitality! Beautiful home, 10 star royal treatment for all guests, no matter who they are (tourists; long-term corporate world people, some of whom work at nearby Ocean Spray; newlyweds; and locals wanting a beautiful "staycation" without venturing far from home). The food is to die for, and Jeannine is an excellent chef. As soon as you meet Jeannine and Ken, you are and always will be family. I didn't want to leave! and each time I return, you know I'll be here.

InnSide Tip - Buzzards Bay/Bourne
I have cousins living in the Bourne/Buzzards Bay area community of Gray Gables (where former President Grover Cleveland had a home) so I explored that area quite a bit during my stay at On Cranberry Pond (only about half and hour's drive). My two favorite restaurants down there were the Sagamore Inn in Sagamore (get the seafood casserole! Loved it!) and the Lobster Trap (great casual dining place, with excellent food).

Business trip was like vacation

I stayed at On Cranberry Pond for a business trip. I had such a nice stay it felt more like a holiday. Jeannine was incredibly warm, generous and helpful and nothing that I asked for (directions, very early breakfasts, use of a computer and printer, a place to meet with my colleagues, etc.) was a problem. Jeannine's cooking and beautiful venue will also be with me for some time. I look forward to going back again soon!

breakfast to die for

Recently my wife and I took each of our daughters(5) and their husbands on a 9 day vacation to Massachusetts. My wife and I stayed in the home of a relative about one half mile away from On Cranberry Pond Bed and Breakfast in Middleboro, Massachusetts where our daughters and their husbands stayed. We arranged for all of us to eat breakfast together each morning at the On Cranberry Pond Bed and Breakfast and what a great start to the day ........ breakfast to die for. The accommodations were outstanding in every possible way. The location is next to cranberry bogs, three ponds, and a beautifully wooded area. All the privacy you could want with a view. Our kids are still talking about it and would go back in a heart beat which we hope to do again soon. The owners go out of their way to make you comfortable and by the time you leave you have made many new friends and feel more like family than guests. I couldn't have written the script any better. This place is uniquely outstanding and ought to be on everyone's bucket list. Just so you know, the two pound bass I caught in one of the ponds is still there for you to enjoy.
