Cherished Time before Deployment

My wife and I came here to spend a night in historic Newport. I am on my way to Afganistan and I am on Christmas leave from the army. We enjoyed a drink or "two" at Buskers pub. We found it to be a warm and friendly place. We had dinner at the White Horse Tavern. The darkness of the room and candlelight added to the flavor of the place. The food was ok and we would go back again. We found this Inn and room to be impeccably clean and very nice. This Inn and Innkeepers really make you feel welcome and at home. The "spirits" of the place are also welcoming. We hope to come back again.

Relaxing

This was the perfect setting for a getaway from the big city and all thanks to Nick and Brian. My wife and I had just finished a grueling semester in grad school and we desperately needed a week to unwind and relax. Nick and Brian were gracious hosts and gave excellent recommendations for food and activities. I love simply home cooked and local fare and Nick's suggestions of trying Franklin Spa was an excellent choice for a simple breakfast/brunch. We'll definitely make this wonderful B&B our choice at our next time we are up in Newport

Second Time is Better

Second trip back is like coming home again. The place is beautifully decorated. We spent the first night just enjoying the parlor. Shops are a short walk (15 mins) away as well as the Cliff Walk. Much easier than driving and finding a parking spot. Benjamins has great kale soup. Service was mediocre, entries were ok. Sunset cruise on the Madeline was well worth it. Sit on the left side of the boat for the best view. Thanks to Nick and Brian's warm hospitality and recommendations, we will certainly be back to see more of Newport. This trip was just too short. Be sure to stay at least 3 or 4 nights. Next time we will have to stay a full week like the other couple did.

Love Love Love it

We loved staying in the beautiful Nellie Suite for our honeymoon. It is beautifully decorated and cozy. Brian and Nick thank you for all the wonderful suggestions, amazing breakfasts and wonderful conversations. Be sure to read some of their recommendations in the room. I almost peed my pants. These guys are so good at making you feel right at home and just tell things how they are. I hate going to places that try to fluff things up or "sell you" on doing lame attractions. Nick and Brian's recommendations are stellar because they are REAL! Salvation Cafe on Broadway was the cheapest and best meal we had. The jerked pork was amazing! The Newport Creamery was so yummy! Ice cream was great! Pour Judgement had great beer and cheap drinks that were huge! Once you a nice buzz-order the house fries. If you go to Easton Beach, the trip is not that far from here and they charge $20 for parking there! Just walk it! The lobster rolls on the boardwalk are the best in Newport. If you come back to the room for a break, DON'T lay down on the bed! It is so comfy you will fall right to sleep! We had such a great time!

Well done!

This is our first trip back to Newport or a B&B since we had our children 16 years ago!!! What a wonderful trip, the weather was beautiful, the room comfortable and our hosts Brian and Nick were very hospitable. The breakfast was outrageous, its presentation and taste was that of a 5 star restaurant! We had to bring our camera to breakfast! The Cliff Walk is a must especially if the weather is nice. The water views are spectacular. The weekend was great

Cheers

I am a medical doctor from Switzerland and I attended the nephrology course in Boston. My husband and our 5 year old daughter came along. After 4 days in Boston/Cambridge, we decided to have some vacation, first Hyannis and now Newport! Nick is the best. He was there to greet us when we arrived and he introduced us around the house, the room was nice, my daughter slept on the sofa but that was perfect! A few tips! Once we ate at 22 Bowens, which is great value for money. Had yellow tuna. Then the Pier on Howard Wharf great location due to the harbor, great food. We had lobster and scallops. There are some cheaper ones here or there but not too important. Oh while in Newport don't forget to do Cliff Walk; it's long but not too difficult (our 5 year old accompanying us) and in the end rewarding.

Brillant!

We came all the way from Australia and couldn't have chosen a better Inn. Can we provide more sincere feedback than we would gladly return and we purchased a voucher for our daughter to come up from NYC with her partner. The breakfast were a highlight as was Nick's overall influence. He really is the heart and soul of the Inn Bliss. Restaurant wise, we visited Scales and Shells. The scallops were particulary good. The sole at the Moorings was superb and the Red Parrot despite the name was also very good and moderately priced.

Just like home

Had a wonderful time. Nick and Brian made their home feel like ours. Everything is so close. Leave your car here and just start walking. Around each corner is a wonderful surprise. We will definitely return to Newport and to Nick and Brian's home.

Murder Weekend

What an amazing weekend from the moment my fiancé and I pulled up to the Inn. We knew this place was going to be great. The charming decor and welcoming atmosphere was like nothing else. Unlike some of the previous writers, this weekend was a murder mystery weekend starring US! All the guests this weekend had roles, it was so fun and entertaining! I would suggest it to anyone. Everyone got into it even the hosts of the Inn, Nick! This was all exclusive weekend including meet n greet Friday with delicious desserts including homemade chocolate chip cookies, and brownies that you smell throughout the Inn. Breakfast was nothing but spectacular- very out of the ordinary and delicious. Nick was a wonderful host! During the day we were sent on a scavenger hunt. My fiancé and I enjoyed sightseeing around Newport, drove along Ocean Rd and enjoyed lunch at Diego's. The Murder Dinner Saturday night was elegant. Soup, Salad and hearty portions of homemade lasagna and garlic bread was to die for!! Hee Hee--this was a miracle murder mystery weekend after all! Paul and I enjoyed every minute of this weekend. Bed is so comfortable.

Romantic Weekend

My wife and I came for the weekend- a surprise get-away that my wife had planned for my birthday. With three little kids at home, time to get away (by ourselves) is at a minimum. It was just what we needed. It was relaxing and gave us the chance to reconnect. The restaurants were great- Tuckers Bistro, Cooke House, Sardellas. The Inn was a great home base. Comfortable and good location. Gracious hosts and a real renewal.

Warm and Comfortable

This is our last time in New England and we have enjoyed our time here. Newport is elegant but relaxed and we enjoyed Brian's great breakfast in the company of 2 other British couples and a couple from Boston. It was so nice to sit chatting about different cultures. For dinner we received good recommendation to Puerini's and in particular the wood smoked swordfish served with spinach. Oh! and the mansions (or cottages) scattered around Newport were also worth the visit. Thanks to Nick and Brian, we had an elegant and comfortable place to stay. And SUPER clean!

Super

We enjoyed a great "one night" getaway in beautiful Newport. Nick's recommendations of Tuckers for dinner was perfect and one of our best date dinners ever. The house is gorgeous- bedroom is comfy and we loved all the Christmas cheer throughout the house

Not What It Seems, Moody Owner

I stayed at Inn Bliss for a wedding with some friends and while we enjoyed the town of Newport, we felt mislead about the house overall. It was NOT made clear in advance that the "living areas" are actually just small rooms off of the main rooms that do not have doors (by the way, there is no door to the upstairs bathroom either so I hope you are comfortable with your co-renters!) It was disappointing that this was not made clear, as we were travelling with numerous couples who would have liked to have some privacy. There was trash from the previous tenant before we arrived. We were told that the house had a hot tub which was one of the appealing factors to our group. The hot tub indeed did not work. The owner accused us of breaking some mirror, which we did not do, and which he admitted could have been done by the previous tenants. The owners also complained that we "used the wrong dishware and left them in the wrong places"- apparently certain plates were not to be used? Um, you run a bed and breakfast where people stay and cook for themselves- if you don't want people to use something I suggest not leaving it in the house where we are living for a week! We stayed for almost a week and when we asked the owners if we could get fresh towels he directed us to a laundromat. We were left with a list of chores to do before leaving, including "scrub down the counters, sweep the floor, strip the beds & run the dishwasher" While we loved the town of Newport, we did not appreciate how the owners treated us. We are a nice, respectful group of people and I guess I was just surprised that this was less of a B&B experience and more of a do-it-yourself type place. We were in town for a good friend's wedding and were busy with wedding festivities all week, the last thing we wanted to worry about was cleaning and doing laundry on our vacation!
