Kealakekua is a very historic place in Hawaii County. First off, Kealakekua Bay is the place where the British explorer Captain James Cook was killed. Kealakekua is also the subject of a 1933 very famous song titled My Little Grass Shack in Kealakekua, Hawaii. Kealakekua Bay means the Pathway to God and its beauty seems to give credence to its meaning and it can be found on the western coast of the Big Island where you can find the world famous Kona coffee beans grown and produced. The Uchida Farm is also an interesting place to visit since this six acre living history museum is set on the grounds of a former Japanese family coffee farm and it showcases the Japanese immigrant life in the early twentieth century.
