What a surprise!!

What a wonderful Inn nestled in the countryside (and so close to many attractions). The room was very clean and most comfortable. The breakfast was INCREDIBLE at the farm house. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. A very restful setting

Lemons turned into Lemonade

We booked a room at The Golden Lamb in Lebanon Ohio and when we arrived, they informed us they had overbooked and did not have a room for us. We were so disappointed and not a bit happy. The manager offered to get a room for us at the Kirkwood Inn and they would comp it. We drove five miles down the road, checked into the Kirkwood, After our night's stay and breakfast in the morning, we felt we had discovered a little bit of paradise. The owner was wonderful to us. In fact, I went to the office to see if they had hot chocolate and she didn't. But she said, I;ll go to the store right now and get you some. And she did! Now that's service extraordinaire. The room was clean comfortable and everything we could need or want including the TV, refrigerator, wireless, coffee and two queensize beds. The real piece de resistance was breakfast in the morning. They have a lovely farmhouse on the property. It has a lavender filled winding path leading to the house and beautiful flowers al around (including all around the property in various sitting areas). We opened the door and I felt as tho we were in Williamsburg. The decor was superb and the breakfast cooked to order was the best I have ever had---and I've had a few. My husband wanted a homemade waffle. I think it was nearly an inch high with "caverns" to pour the maple syrup onto. My eggs, corned beef hash and sausage was second to none. The cook was so knowledgeable about the Inn and told us history and encouraged a tour of the whole house. We could not have felt more welcomed. I literally hated to check out. I simply didn't want to leave this little paradise.. Sandra Dobos Cleveland Ohio

An undiscovered gem by Kings Island

An undiscovered gem by Kings Island The Kirkwood Inn is a quiet place that’s full of charm. Where else can you enjoy a fresh, hot breakfast in a historic home dating back to 1799? The Inn itself is a 2-story building with clean, quiet rooms that are beautifully decorated in warm colors. The carpeting is nice and soft, definitely barefoot-friendly. The air conditioning unit is the quietest we’ve ever heard in a hotel - most rattle and/or make a loud noise when kicking off and on, but not at the Kirkwood Inn. We had a room with 2 queen beds, a small table with 2 chairs, cable TV, a nice-sized desk-table with a chair, a coffeepot, refrigerator, and a full bath with the sink outside the toilet/shower area. We stayed 4 nights and we found the beds neatly made and the supplies replenished each evening after we returned from Kings Island. There are nice wooden benches outside many of the rooms and a picnic table at the backside of the Inn. The Kirkwood House is a separate building just across the small parking lot. The breakfast staff gladly shared the history of the home upon request. They served an extraordinary breakfast! Each morning they had eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, corned beef hash, pancakes, and meat rotations of sausage patties, bacon, and ham. That’s just the hot stuff. They also had the most extensive variety of fruit, pastries - including danishes, pop tarts, doughnuts - breads - including homemade sweet breads, English muffins, toast bread, bagels - along with yogurt. The homemade peach butter is something you’ve got to try!The dining area is just as pictured on their website. Or you can eat your breakfast at one of the tables outside in the front yard garden. We didn’t use the outdoor pool, but it was one of the cleanest-looking outdoor pools I’ve ever seen. It went from 3 ft. to 10 ft. deep. They have a nice nature trail that begins and ends in the front yard of the Kirkwood House with beautiful plants and flowers along the trail. There is a gazebo with a rocking chair for 2. The entire staff is super-friendly! You really feel like a guest, not a commodity, at the Kirkwood Inn. This is a perfect place to stay if you’re looking to break the monotony of the big-name chain hotel experience. It’s conveniently located only 5 minutes from Kings Island. A big bonus is the back entrance to Kings Island, located right across the street from the Inn. You can avoid the noise of most chain hotels and the bulk of the Kings Island traffic at the same time. Remarkable

The Kirkwood was a breath of fresh air. The gardens were tranquil and we truly appreciated the bed and breakfast vibe meshed with modern rooms. The breakfast buffet was the icing on the cake.
