Describe Garden and Grounds |
Most of the 70 acres is rented to the neighbor farmer who grows potatoes, corn, pumpkins, and strawberries. A corn maze is on our land during September and October. The gardens surrounding the home include all kinds of annuals and perennials, including beds for guests to pick cut flowers. Raspberries and strawberries are also available for picking during the season. Guests may stroll the grounds or rest on a bench or hammock. Horses graze in the field next to the house. |

Historic Interest | Originally a two-story log cabin, it was built circa 1741. James Lincoln owned the farm from 1810 to 1834 and he was a great-uncle to President Lincoln. His mother was Anna Boone and a first cousin to the famous frontiersman, Daniel Boone. We have most of the origianl deeds to the property dating back to the 1700s and written on sheepskin. They have been preserved and are available for our guests to view. Rozanna's ancestors owed the farm in 1794, again in the 1800s, and from 1904 to the present. These ancestors were all Amish, including Rozanna's father. The farm is located on the original Conestoga Turnpike where the Conestoga wagons would start their trek out west. These wagons were made in nearby Reading. Historic Awards:
