Maple House B&B - Stay Here !!

Our stay at the Maple House in Rowe, MA was perfect! Rebecca and Michael made us feel completely welcome and at ease. Our room was cozy and comfortable and so inviting that I thoroughly enjoyed using it as an office for my writing while my wife was at her workshop. The property is gorgeous and comes complete with four sheep and several chickens, as well as hiking trails. It was so relaxing to sit in the yard and look out over the meadows and fields as night fell on our first day there. Just that one night helped me to relax and let go of the effects of the five hour drive. We stayed four nights, adding a fourth because the place was so inviting. Of course, breakfasts were excellent with variety and delicious foods an integral part. We had something different each day, all of them made by Rebecca as she played cook as well as the perfect hostess. It was so quiet at night with not a single car passing the B&B. I would highly recommend the Maple House B&B to anyone looking for a quiet getaway that is very well-located for the many attractions of the area.

Tranquility Base

Over the 4th of July, 2010. After three days I left relaxed, relaxed, relaxed, in spite of two full days of day hiking. My life is too busy and too full of artificial stimulation. I looked forward to a night of peacely quiet. Hear myself breath. When I first shut off the light, it struck me how dark it was. No, stare out the window and there are million more stars than I could possibly see at home. There is much more to do that one might imagine. Some went rafting on the Deerfield, I went hiking to Monroe and Catamount. The absence of masses was strikingly a pleasure. Others wen to the town beach. I visited the historical society in Heath. Oh, just the country drive, meandering, turning, weaving was a beauty. My GPS helped me discover roads I might not otherwise take. Bring your camera. Innkeepers Becky and Mike think of everything and essentially open their entire house to you. Sitting in the yard, sleeping in the hammock, reading a book on a hot day, just a pleasure. Becky is a terrific cook and the breakfast is excellent. The beds are comfy - in the summer sleep with the windows open, ah, the fresh air. After a day or so, you stop thinking about a schedule and begin to appreciate the hills, the farms, the fields. I've brought home some amazing photos. Read a little about arguable "The Line of Forts" that once protected early settlers from the French/Indians. Concerts in Charlemont, skiing (a different trip) too in the winter is low-stress. Dinners are a bit of a drive, but hey, who's on a schedule. Enjoy having the road to yourself and driving under the speed limit.

sweet lil B&B in Rowe Mass

We stayed at the Maple House B&B for a weekend in October. It was a perfect time of year to be in western Mass. The house is super sweet and the room we stayed in was great. I would stay there again in a heart beat.

A Wonderful Place

There are some experience in life where you can just feel yourself relaxing, your mind expanding, your stress draining away. A stay at Maple House is like that. It's a brief interlude in a wonderful place and time completely separate from the rush, traffic and hassles of city or suburban life. Leave your cell phone at home - it won't work here! Instead of texting and checking messages, you'll find yourself wandering the grounds, watching the humming birds, or the ice shimmering on the tree branches. Or hiking one of the many paths through the woods, maybe to the lake shore, or into the mountains. Or sitting watching the fire in the cozy sun room. The beauty of the Berkshires surrounds you; the peace and quiet is so complete that it almost takes getting used to if you haven't been out of the city for a while. The rooms at Maple House are beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Becky Bradley prepares fantastic and huge breakfasts. The coffee is hot and strong and good. The Bradleys are very accommodating and laid-back hosts - you will consider them friends by the time you leave. I have returned to Maple House again and again, in all seasons. I highly recommend Maple House as the place to stay if you're looking for accommodation in the area, or as the ideal destination for a weekend or week-long getaway in the Berkshires.

We keep coming back!

Just back from another delightful weekend at the Maple House. This is our eighth or ninth visit! Becky and Mike are the best, they are so good at making you feel at home, from those amazing home made gourmet breakfasts to beautiful rooms with nice amenities like lavender soaps and fluffy towels, to building a roaring fire for us in the common room at night. They really go out of their way to insure every guest has a great experience while staying at the Maple House. You won't be disappointed!

Exactly what I look for in a B&B

The scenery at Maple House is beautiful, natural and calming, making this the perfect place to go for a quiet getaway. The owners seem like fantastic people and we had a great time conversing with them while enjoying the excellent and wholesome breakfasts prepared by Becky. We did a lot of trekking while we were there for the weekend around the lake and small mountains, and Becky was so helpful getting as all set up by printing out maps and highlighting the best routes, etc. A really fun idea would be to take advantage of their retreat/reunion package and rent out the whole house for the weekend (10 people) with friends or family. We hope to do that in the future!

Wonderfully relaxing!

My husband and I stayed at the Maple House for two nights last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. You almost feel like you're stepping back in time with no televisions or cell service, which for us was fantastic! It was so quiet and peaceful to look out at the beautiful property and see sheep grazing and the chickens stirring about in their pen, just a very relaxing, country atmosphere. Becky and Mike were really personable and gracious hosts and yes Becky does make fantastic breakfasts, too! Having a cup of locally roasted coffee in their sunroom before breakfast was a pretty nice way to start the day. We were amazed how little traffic there was for a Summer weekend...just another bonus. We've been to the area several times but hadn't heard of the Maple House before. We plan on returning in the Fall when the leaves are changing and will definitely return to the Maple House!
