The best B&B value I've experienced
We have been to well over 20 B&B's all over the country and this is by far the most beautiful one we have ever stayed. The beautiful pictures of the grounds on the web site do it no justice and the house and rooms are just as wonderful. Cindy and Jim could not have been more accomodating and anticipated needs we didn't even know we had. If you are looking for a touristy stay with lots of gift shops and activities, this is probably not for you. If you want a relaxing, romantic, private getaway where you are thoroughly spoiled, this is the place. All for little more than it costs to stay at the place where they "leave the light on for you". Jim & Cindy........expect us back soon.....

A slice of Indiana Heaven
We first stayed at Mary Helen's in July 2011 and have returned 11 times. Jim and Cindy have mastered the craft/art of innkeeping and leave no stone unturned
in providing for their guests.Their attention to detail is unequaled, the breakfasts are fabulous ,and the weekend fine dining is unparalleled in the B&B world. The rooms are well-appointed and, regardless of season, the grounds are gorgeously groomed, making this a slice of heaven.

Love Mary Helens!!!
I have to say Bob and Judy Parsons said it very well. Mary Helens is so beautiful. Get away from the busy life and come sit on the front porch. The views are hard to put into words! I have had dinner here and I have to say it is a special night! The food is wonderful!

Peaceful setting
We found this place on the "spur " of the moment and the hosts were so accommodating. Our room was spotless and so fun to explore. We chose the "western theme" and enjoyed all the attention to details in our room. The whole house was beautifully decorated in the fall theme including the outside. Breakfast was so tasty and a lovely presentation. A very peaceful setting.

Mary Helen's
What a wonderful B&B nestled in a little grove of oak trees close to one of our favorite wineries. Cindy was warm and welcoming. Cindy has a passion for cooking and decorating and bestows this passion upon her guests. Cindy made us feel write at home and like members of her family. We absolutely loved it. We would go back in a heartbeat and the next time we are in the area we will. Thank you Cindy!

We loved our time here!
This is the second time we've stayed with Cindy and Jim in their lovely B&B. We have family in the area, and cannot imagine NOT staying here when in town. We've stayed both times in Dewey's Outpost (the western-themed room) which is just lovely! The sitting area is wonderful, the bed is extremely comfortable, and the shower and jetted tub are an added bonus! And the cleanliness - it's something we worry about sometimes at B&B's - but WOW - it's pristine! The gorgeous Christmas decorations are an added plus too!
There is a quaint little nook that Cindy keeps stocked with refreshments (coffees, teas, sodas, water) and any necessity you may have forgotten, as well as a library of movies and books, and little sitting nook!
While I look at these little details, Cindy and Jim have forever stolen my Husband's heart with their amazing breakfasts. We've now had stuffed french toast and blueberry pancakes - both with eggs and bacon. YUM. We cannot wait to try one of their dinners - we've heard great things, and will definitely book a nice dinner for our next visit!

What a wonderful weekend retreat! warm and inviting place with great scenery. Minutes from modern civilization but feels miles from anyone! Rooms were very clean, comfortable and very charming. Breakfast was amazing and Cindy and Jim were a joy to speak with and get to know. They certainly thought of everything when creating this paradise! We will absolutely be back! - R & C, Richmond, IN

Happy 60th Birthday!
My husband was turning 60 and I was on the search for a quiet place to usher in the birthday that he wasn’t too excited to celebrate but I felt deserved some extra recognition. He loves western movies and fishing so I planned a day of shopping for my husband at Bass Pro Shops in Cincinnati and went for a search for a place to stay on the way back to Indianapolis. To my amazement I found Mary Helen’s Bed and Breakfast in Batesville with the Dewey Outpost room full of western decorations. Wow, what a perfect place for a western movie buff to stay! I made the reservations and anxiously waited to see if the pictures on the website were really what we would find when we arrived at the B&B. We certainly weren’t disappointed! It is a beautiful house surrounded by a well-manicured lawn and pond. We were warmly welcomed by Cindy and taken to our room. We were blown away by the decorations in the Dewey Outpost and the cleanliness of the room. Cindy and Jim have thought of all the little details to make a stay at their B & B an outstanding experience. Our stay ended with a romantic breakfast served by Cindy and Jim in the intimate dining room. Thank you Cindy and Jim for making turning 60 such a pleasant experience for my husband! We plan to be back soon. We would love to experience all the seasons at your gorgeous B&B.

Beautiful Romantic Get-A-Way
Such a beautiful and well kept home. The property is off the road, back on a beautiful landscaped lot. The room was decorated so beautiful and spotless. The food was delicious and served in such a way just like a very high priced dining place. Cindy has such a wonderful personality and such a joy to talk to.

Beautiful relaxing and romantic
We have been going to B&B's for 20 yrs and would rate Mary Helens #1. The home inside and out was immaculate and every detail to meet our needs was met. Their gracious hospitality was wonderful but most of all a sense of peacefulness and relaxation was provided.

HIdden Gem!
Mary Helen's is a true gem! Built by the owners themselves, you can see the love and care they put into it. The hosts do everything possible to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The food is excellent. Everything is well kept and immaculate. Very comfortable and big rooms. The grounds are beautiful. The pond has a swing, some tables and chairs so you can enjoy relaxing outdoors. Highly recommend this B & B!

A home-away-from-home!
We had a beautiful stay at Mary Helen's Bed and Breakfast. We arrived exhausted & travel-weary and Cindy just took us under her wing. She showed us where everything was (including tea, coffee, and snacks!) explained how things worked, and took such good care of us that we felt immediately at home. The room, Leona Jo, was just perfect. So posh and cozy all at once. The bed is divine, I slept like a log! Breakfast was delicious. Cindy inquired after our dietary needs or possible allergies, asked what we would like, and when we would like it served. Everything was amazing, waffles with fruit, eggs, sausage, coffee, juice.... my sister had a cough and Cindy made her a delicious tea blend that soothed her throat. I will highly recommend Mary Helen's to anyone I know! Even though we were only there for one night I feel as if we've made friends for life; we had such a lovely long chat on subjects of mutual interest. Mary Helen's is obviously a labor of love and it was a delight to see first hand the care they take of those who stay under their roof. I look forward to returning someday!

Hospitality in a Beautiful Setting
My adult sons and I stayed at Mary Helen's Bed, Breakfast & Fine Dining for a wonderful, restful weekend. The B&B is in a beautifully landscaped country setting but also close to area attractions. The Innkeepers welcomed us with exceptional warmth and hospitality, seeing to all details to make our stay very comfortable and pleasant. Our rooms and the sitting room were beautifully decorated and immaculate. This B&B exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to staying there again.

Weekend Getaway for Anniversary
Loved this B&B. Quiet, serene location in the country. Room was Victorian style, very nice, comfortable, and quiet. Outdoor areas where you could sit and enjoy the pond and the beautiful flowers. Jim and Cindy were wonderful hosts. Breakfast each morning was excellent served in a very charming room. If you want a quiet, relaxing getaway, this is the place. Highly recommend this one!

First Timers
This way our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and we weren't quite sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at Mary Helen's Place. It isn't just somebody's house thrown together to accommodate the occasional quest but a house built around accommodating it's guests. The grounds are beautiful and the Bischoff's were extremely courteous and talented at making you feel at home. If you are in the mood to try something different with the goal of just going and relaxing at a home away from home give Mary Helen's a chance you won't regret it. P.S. The breakfast was amazing.

This is a gem!
We stayed 3 nights at Mary Helen's and fell in love with the place. Cindy and Jim were such nice hosts, and really made us feel welcome. The place from the lawn to the room was immaculate, so relaxing and quiet. We stayed in Leona Jo's room, which was very large, with private bath, and very comfortable king bed. Everything was so neat and clean and the breakfasts were outstanding. Definently would recommend staying here, and hopefully we will return soon.

Epic Bed & Breakfast
My sister and I recently stayed at Mary Helen's for our second time in the Leona Jo room. It was just as amazing as the first time we stayed! Comfy bed, tasteful decor, a lovely bathroom complete with all the linens & toiletries, robes, easy chairs & a nice tv set-up, beautiful grounds, a well-stocked tea & coffee stand, amazing breakfast with excellent coffee, and tasty snacks for the trip home.... I can not say enough good things about our experience. Jim and Cindy have devoted so much love and care to every single detail of their beautiful home and it really shows. Their care and keeping of their guests goes above and beyond. We felt loved, pampered, and well-taken care of during our whole stay. We always have a delightful chat with Cindy, it is something that we look forward to. She is a sweetheart and she goes the extra mile to make sure you're comfortable and happy. I would recommend (and have recommended) Mary Helen's to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing stay.

WOW factor for a scenic, relaxing retreat
Mary Helen's Bed & Breakfast is a phenomenal location for a gorgeous little getaway! The view coming up the driveway is absolutely breathtaking! Cindy & Jim do an incredible job making this lovely property a place for their guests to truly enjoy a carefree stay. The service is impeccable & I can't say enough nice things about how sweet Cindy is! She is an absolute doll! The place is so clean you could eat off the floors. The house seems like new because they maintain it meticulously. Outside there are so many little areas to sit & enjoy the outdoor gardens, ponds, fountains, porch, creative decorations, the gnome home out front...it's all just a lovely little paradise. When you enter the house, you are in the cute little breakfast dining area where your delicious breakfasts are beautifully presented by Cindy each morning. Any dietary restrictions or allergies, just let her know & she will happily accommodate. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, 1 with a king bed, 1 with a queen bed. Each room has a sitting area with TV, loveseat/futon, small cafe table with 2 chairs. Each has its own full bathroom as well, (plus there is a half bath downstairs off the breakfast room). Each room is decorated very nicely. I especially enjoyed my room with the horse/ranch theme, very detailed & creatively done! Also upstairs is a little balcony cove sitting area with coffee, tea, snacks, frig stocked with water & soda, books to peruse, just a delightful area where we sat each morning & evening hanging out. Nearby are some cute little towns with some delicious fare. We spent time in Metamora, Oldenburg, & Batesville. We loved our meals at Brau Haus, Black Forest Bar, Lil Charlie's, & Wagner's Village Inn. Also enjoyed Ertel Cellars Winery just down the street. If you're looking for a short retreat for yourself or a couple of friends, I highly recommend you consider this gem!
