NO PRIVACY

A Very beautiful B & B. Very clean and very comfortable. I was not at ALL pleased with the "service" that we received. My family and my extended family rented both houses for 2 nights. From the beginning we were greeted in a very unprofessional manner. We had un-announced pop-ins several times in the mornings, to having the owners stand outside our bathroom windows waving at us as we existed the shower, to listening in on our family conversations in the ONLY area we were allowed to have food. We were treated like we were idiots having the "rules" stated to us several times. If it is a private get away you are looking for---this is not the place.

Management Response
We rented all 8 guest rooms to a family member of the person making the complaint. We do not rent out these homes. The woman who made the reservations was given the list of rooms and price for each room. She sent another family member to come early on Friday morning to see each room and pick up the keys. We were told he would decide which family members would get each room. Our rooms can accommodate up to 16 people. On the main floor of each home, we have furnishings of the historic period. The front doors open into an open area with period furniture and display cases filled with Italian porcelain collections along with glassware and art works, antiques, etc. Next is a full functional kitchen for our use to prepare and serve breakfasts to our guests. These guests chose not to have breakfast with us. We enter this area every morning to greet our guests who are present to interact with them, answering questions, giving history when asked and make coffee if requested. On Saturday morning when entering through the front doors into the open area, I found the settee pushed into a porcelain vase on a small marble top table with someone's cowboy boots on the upholstered settee. There was an air mattress in the doorway to the parlor and another air mattress in the banquet room of the basement. Also people were sleeping on the velveteen sofas with no sheets using the decorative sofa pillows in the open living room area. Later we discovered these people had removed the latchkey piano bench cover and hid it in another room; a decorative Christmas tree skirt was taken from a storage closet and put on the piano bench. On my morning walk on the sidewalk around the B & B. I heard voices over the running of the air conditioner, I looked up, about 8 feet, to see someone standing at a window wide open looking down at me on the sidewalk. Local town residents also often use this sidewalk by our gardens on their morning or evening walks. This guest was outraged by people walking down the sidewalk and outraged when the homeowners came around. This person seems to have wanted us to remove our collectables and give them free excess to our homes for them to invite many more people and do as they please and prevent us, the homeowners from entering. This does not describe any Bed and Breakfast we have ever visited. We are not running a bunk house for as many as they can squeeze in. The family member who made the reservations and paid the bill never mentioned any intent to invite all these extra people. We regret that we were not able to meet her. She wasn't there when we asked for her and other family members did not want to talk to us. We have tried to call her and left a message if she had any issue, complaint, or question, we asked her to please call us. She has not returned our call.
