Perfect Anniversary Surprise
My husband took me to this lovely inn at the height of the fall foliage season to celebrate our anniversary. It was the perfect get away in a lovely mountain setting. Our hosts, Ed and Carol were welcoming and very friendly. Ed is an amazing cook and the two dinners, two breakfasts, plus a picnic lunch were outstanding. A highlight of the weekend was the Saturday pre-dinner wine tasting. Ed introduced six wines to the five couples at dinner and explained the finer points of wine tasting. It was a wonderful experience and dinner conversation with the other couples was fantastic. I would highly recommend this Inn and look forward to another trip in the future.

Relaxing, Beautiful view
My husband and I spent 3 days at the North Fork Mountain Inn
(Eagles Nest room) and had a great time. The Inn is secluded
on a mountain with a great view of Smoke Hole, WV. The
expansive porch has rockers, picnic tables, a garden, a hot
tub, a fire pit, and food to feed the local deer. Inside
there is a common TV, places to read (books and mags
available), a telescope, a pool table, internet availability,
and board games. Tea, coffee, water, soda, and homemade
cookies always on hand. Carol and Ed the innkeepers are wonderful,
very friendly; they really make you feel welcome. The food is
great - hearty breakfast included and homestyle dinners, if you wish,
just let them know in advance. National and State parks, and caverns
abound for the adventurer. Or just take a relaxing drive through
the mountains. One caution is that the Inn sits pretty high on the
mountain, so bring your 4 wheel drive or plan to arrive during daylight.
Our sedan made it fine, but it may be scary in the dark the first time!

Waste of Relaxing, Romantic Weekend
I originally posted a review on B&B.com a few years ago about our experience, but it never posted. I guess they don't like it when customers provide 'real' reviews. We decided to stay in the Hideaway Cabin for $180 a night. I called ahead to have a gourmet picnic lunch for our first day so we could go for a hike. We never received it and when we tried to get a hold of Ed and Carol, no answer. We did not attend breakfast the morning of, due to bugs swarming all over the cabin, because some moron who installed the window unit did not have the window/ac unit flush with the window frame. We were supposed to have a fine dining evening @ $50.00 per person that I guess Carol did not communicate to chef de cuisine, Ed, (HA! That's a joke!) that we were dining with several other couples, so Ed provided us with the kiddie meal of fried fish that looked like and tasted like Gorton's fish sticks, while all of the adults dined on salmon. To boot, it was extremely hot in the dining area and we were served hot soup on a hot summer's day. What are we 80? Ed also served the white wine at room temperature, because as he stated, "That's the way you are supposed to drink it." Really? I thought the whole point of hospitality, which I worked in for 7 years and my fiancee for over 18 years, was to make the customer happy and comfortable, neither of which we received. Out of all of the couples, we were spending more money and treated like second class citizens. I guess because we were not married, from old southern money, or new money, we didn't count. Dinner was a huge disappointment to say the least. We had breakfast with the others the next day, which was nothing to sing about. When I privately met with Carol to settle our bill, I explained our concerns. I am not the type to complain, but for the amount of money we spent, I was infuriated by the lack of service, terrible food, bugs, et cetera. She just said, "Oh, here is the line for the tip."I hope the tip was going to the Amish girls serving us and not to Ed and Carol. As the owners, they should not get it and they did not deserve my or my fiancee's hard earned money. Those people obviously no nothing about hospitality, food, or wine. Just another pair of nouveau riche db's that think they can run a hospitality business. No, you can't. I tell everyone I know about the horrible experience we had and I will never go back. I hope they upped their game from when we were there a few years ago and Ed took some cooking classes. We had better hospitality and food at the Hotel Morgan in Morgantown, WV for 1/2 the price!

Perfect Getaway for Honeymooners
My husband and I went to North Fork Inn for our honeymoon. It was our first BnB experience, and we are happy to say, we are now BnBers for life. Upon arriving, we saw a herd of white tail deer. The atmosphere was perfect for a couple just looking to relax. The rooms exceeded our expectations, and were all very comfortable. Carol was a fantastic inn keeper, and accommodated our needs. We found out that Ed typically cooks for the Inn and was away, but we were very impressed with the Carol's cooking. We liked the food so much, we took home several recipes. We enjoyed lounging in the main area, relaxing in the hot tub, sitting next to the fireplace, sitting out on the patio reading, and knowing that we could hike around if we wanted to. We were able to book massages, and were completely impressed by the set up for one of the most healing massages either of us have had. We have since recommended this BnB to all our friends and family.

Nicest place I have ever stayed.
Ed and Carol have the most remarkable place I have ever stayed at. The beautiful scenery, the spacious accommodations, and remote aspect of the inn are unmatched. add to it how extraordinary the hospitality is... simply a remarkable place.
