Joann & Don Neuenschwander
Description
Circa 1888. This inn was built as a small hotel and also served as housing for railroad employees. Innkeeper Joann Neuenschwander's parents bought the place in the 1940s, and she grew up in it, helping out when it was used as a boarding house for railroad workers. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable, with a country appeal. Each guest room is named in honor of a different railroad line, such as the Soo Line or the Rock Island. Candles and a display of wedding gowns create a romantic feel. Breakfasts include quiche, fresh fruit, homemade bagels and other treats.
