Description
Circa 1720. Hearth-cooked New England breakfasts of eggs, bacon and homemade breads are served in this colonial inn, one of the oldest homes in Preston. Wide floor boards original to the home create a feeling of reverence for the finely maintained historic home. There are pegged mortise and tenon beams and scrolled moldings on the stair treads. Canopy beds with floaty bed curtains add a romantic touch. There is a stone tunnel connecting the street with the barn's basement, and ancient stone walls divide the rolling meadows in view of the inn's four acres. Guests are invited to help with the farm animals, including gathering eggs.
