Circa 1809. A living history museum, this 19th-century Shaker village is set atop a pleasant meadow and includes 2,900 acres of farmland. Guest rooms are in 15 of the 34 restored buildings where Shakers once lived. Guest rooms are furnished with Shaker reproductions and hand-woven rugs. The entire village is a National Historic Landmark. Costumed interpreters work at 19th-century crafts and describe Shaker culture and craft. A dining room in the village serves bountiful Kentucky fare and Shaker recipes. Dining reservations are highly recommended.
