Description
Circa 1854. The owners of Ferndale's most historic structure note that the Shaw House was opened to the public in 1860 (six years after its construction) "to serve man and beast". A carpenter Gothic house with gables, bays and balconies it is set back on an acre of garden. An old buckeye tree frames the front gate, and in the back, a secluded deck overlooks a creek. Nestled under the wallpapered gables are several guest rooms filled with antiques and fresh flowers.
