Eclectic, Funky, Lovely! Loved it!

We too were almost dissuaded by some negative reviews, but reading the positive ones convinced us to try Spruce Canyon. We needed a place to relax, chill out, be comfortable and we found it! The owner, Ana, is a delight; friendly, generous, knowledgable and just the nicest person ever. The apartment is an entire downstairs with daylight walkout. Shady in just the right places and allowing sunshine in perfectly in others. Ana is an artist, a healer and a sage, so of course her space is filled to the brim with delightful treasures in every nook and cranny. Here is the table with Tibetan bells, some didgeridoos and chimes. Other there are the museum quality vases and figurines. Books are everywhere, covering a wide range of topics and interests. Everywhere you look there is something of interest. Could it seem cluttered to some people? Yes, of course, but oh what a delightful and quirky clutter! If you are someone who can look past a high cobweb or two, and appreciate comfortable chairs, luxurious beds, nice lighting and a kitchen table that met all of our needs, then this is your "B&B". The kitchen is well approximated, everything you could want is there. The garden out the back half door has comfortable chairs where you can have your morning coffee and enjoy the magical garden spaces, filled with more treasures. It's not perfect, it's a living, working area so there are tarps and works in progress. But if you can see the beauty past the collections of found treasures yet to be incorporated you can spend hours exploring the little gardens and finding something new every day! The location is within walking distance to downtown Berkeley, the Gourmet Ghetto. If you are a minimalist, need totally uncluttered space, pick somewhere else. If you are looking for a truly lovely laid back experience surrounded by art and treasures, we highly recommend Spruce Canyon. I would not recommend you bring children.
