Description
Circa 1862. Listed in the National Register, this handsome three-story hotel was the most prominent of the Gold Country hotels. Carefully renovated, it features a double-tiered wraparound porch, and there is a full service restaurant, bar and banquet/parlor. It is situated on an acre of lawns that afford croquet, horseshoes and volleyball. Volcano is a Mother Lode town that has been untouched by supermarkets and modern motels and remains much as it was during the Gold Rush, except that the population has dwindled from 5,000 to 100 today. Modified American Plan (breakfast and dinner) is available. Guests enjoy walking to the local swimming hole or fishing.
