Straddling the Yahara River which is about 20 miles southeast of the state capital Madison, Stoughton was founded in 1847 and is famous for its annual Syttende Mai Celebration in May. Over and above it, Stoughton is at the same time the origin of the coffee break. Visit the Stoughton Opera House, one of the few remaining second story theaters in the Midwest. Your Stoughton bed and breakfast experience should introduce you to its unique shops and galleries where they have everything from clothing, fine art, antiques and home décor. Stoughton will let you enjoy palatable dining at its great mix of first-rate restaurants. There are several fairs including the Stoughton Fair every June to July and the Coffee Break Festival every August at Mandt Park. By Naeset-Roe Inn.
