Circa 1858. This pre-Civil War, Italianate-style home is named for its first owner, and it is listed in the local historic register. There are four guest rooms and a suite to choose from that include amenities such as whirlpool or clawfoot tubs. The Garden Room is especially unique, as it features a trompe l'oeil painting on the walls and stained glass. The home's decor is meant to be like an English garden, and to add extra romance, the innkeeper has placed candles in the windows. Breakfast is an appetizing affair, guests are pampered with a French banana pancake topped with caramel sauce or perhaps Belgian waffles with strawberries and cream. The inn offers close access to Minneapolis and sites such as the Mall of America. Located in historic Excelsior, the inn is located near the Old Log Theater, Chanhassen Dinner Theater and the University of Minnesota Arboratum.
