Circa 1835. Set on 36 acres in the Ozark Mountains, the Inn at the Mill offers visitors a sophisticated combination of modern amenities and historic ambiance. First open for business in 1835 as the Johnson Mill, it was burned down in the Civil War battle at Pea Ridge in 1862. World renowned architect James Lambeth was responsible for the inn's modern renovation; he was inspired by the works of other noted visionary designers such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Walt Disney, Claude Monet and Frederic Remington. Vaulted ceilings, plush modern and reproduction furnishings, and original hand-hewn beams are present in many of the inn's eight suites and 40 guest rooms. The inn's five-star restaurant, the only one in Arkansas, utilizes fresh, local ingredients in many of it recipes created by Chef Miles James, whose culinary skills have gained attention from the New York Times and Southern Living.
