A Great Place!

If you want to stay in a lovely Inn within walking distance of almost everything in Monterey, this is it. The innkeepers Dawn & John were always there but not overly so, leaving you with as much privacy as you desire. The room was nice, the breakfasts were wonderful and the afternoon get together with wine and Dawn's wonderful hors d'oeuvres is a must. Later in the day, after we had checked out, my cell phone rang, it was Dawn. "Hi", she said,"I think you left something a little too nice to throw out, where can I send it?" Two days later we received a package, now is that taking care of us or what? I almost forgot, try the Bocce Ball, it adds to the afternoon fun.

Jabberwock sets the bar

Two couples shared the top floor rooms (Wabe and Mimsy) for 2 nights. Having our own little "parlor" area was a nice addition. Dawn and John and staff provide excellent service and made sure our stay was everything -- and more --than we expected. DELICIOUS breakfasts (LOVE that jabberjuice!), great puupuus and wine each evening, plus homemade cookies and milk before bed. No detail was missed. Very warm, homey atmosphere. Lovely gardens. They are a wealth of knowledge about the area and are quite helpful with planning activities, dinner reservations, etc. They set the bar against which all other B&B's will be judged for us.

No Title

We stayed in the Toves room with the little secret garden. The bed was huge and the tub was big enough for two. The secret garden is great if you enjoy an "evening cigarette." There is tons of space to unpack. Breakfast was wonderful. There are also sun-room tables if you don't like being forced into conversation with strangers. Did I mention brandy hour? The price is steep but worth it for the space and privacy. It's also walking distance to the aquarium and the wharf shopping area.

All Wonderland, No Mad Hatter

The Jabberwock is a delight of a B&B with whimsical charm and luxurious amenities. Joan and John have created an atmosphere that is homey and comforting while at the same time feeling like a very private and romantic escape. Everything at the Jabberwock was like a wonderful surprise from the cookies and snarkleberry frumptious to the bunny in the tree to the choices including backgammon, checkers and Scattergories (which I won)! I can't recommend the Jabberwock highly enough. It allows you to feel childlike without feeling childish. It offers views that are stunning and the innkeepers have paid attention to every fine and lovely detail.
