Circa 1899. This Bavarian-style lodge building, topped with an enormous cupola, is situated at 9,200 feet in the Sacramento Mountains. Eight of the rooms are located in the Pavillion, The Lodge's bed and breakfast inn. These rooms have knotty-pine walls, and some have gas fireplaces. The four-story high copper-domed observatory contains a sitting room and has views that stretch 150 miles towards White Sands, the San Andres Mountains and the Black Range. Past guests include Pancho Villa, Judy Garland and Clark Gable. One of the three highest golf courses in the world is here.
