A romantic weekend proposal!
We live about an hour away from Savannah so we spent two days at The Marshall House and had the perfect romantic weekend escape! We stayed in the Mary Marshall Suite, which was a luxury in so many ways. The bathroom even had a claw-foot tub from 1851 – so quaint!
My husband had arranged flowers and champagne for the room. He had a secret plan up his sleeve that weekend and proposed one night in one of the squares close by! I later found out how much the staff had helped to arrange everything for him long distance, putting his mind at ease.
The veranda was perfect with rocking chairs to enjoy with a glass of wine in the evening or coffee in the morning and watch the world go by below. There is a street right in front of the hotel, but there was not noticeable noise when we were sleeping.
The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. They have directions and information for any place that you might want to visit. They made dinner and tour reservations and always had a recommendation for whatever we were looking to see or do.
We are looking forward to coming back this Fall for our 5 year anniversary!!

InnSide Tip - dine in one night
The first night we stayed in the hotel for dinner at 45 bistro. Don't let it fool you by being a "hotel restaurant". It is a great spot and so convenient!
I'm still raving about the filet mignon! It was excellent.

Romantic Birthday Experience
I surprised my wife for her birthday with a special get out of town trip to Savannah. This was our first trip to Savannah, and because of the beauty of the city I did not want to stay at a typical hotel. When I saw pictures of The Marshall House online, I knew she would love this place! And I was right. I treated her to a beautiful suite that looked over the indoor courtyard. It was very spacious for just the two of us. We had a king size bed and a great sitting area. Since this was for her birthday, I called the hotel before to set-up dinner reservations for us. I did not know much about the area, so I just let the concierge decide where to send us. The staff called the restaurant and set-up everything! When we checked in they had an itinerary for us to remind us about the location of the restaurant and what time we needed to be there. To me that was amazing service, and we just checked in! The staff was great with information about the places to visit, and things to do. This place is great, and it just fits into what Savannah is all about. My wife is still talking to her our friends and family about her special birthday weekend at The Marshall House.

Great Romantic Getaway!
My husband and I were looking for somewhere to spend our second wedding anniversary, and we were so lucky to have found The Marshall House! We decided to book a Superior King room. The rate seemed so low compared to the value of the room and the great staff. The room was beautiful with accents of red and white. The staff even signed a card wishing us a Happy Anniversary! The location was great. We were only a 5 minute walk to River Street which is one of our favorite places to see in Savannah. Also, we were within walking distance to all of the beautiful squares and historic homes. We are trying to plan a weekend before our next anniversary to come back for a visit!

Romance at it's best
My husband and I stayed at the Marshall House at the beginning of 2010 for 3 romantic nights. We had champagne and chocolate strawberries in our room upon arrival, all with the help of the most friendly and gracious staff we have ever found, and we do travel a lot! From housekeeping to valet to front desk we felt it was our home from home. The Concierge, I think her name was Shannon, gave excellent ideas for places to eat and what to do. Try to get a balcony room although I'm sure all rooms are perfect. Cleanliness for such an old historic Inn was first class. We also enjoyed the complimentary cordials in the evening and complimentary expanded breakfast each morning in the atrium. We will be back and recommend to all no matter what age. Thank you Marshall House for bringing the romance back into our lives.
