Description

The gated entrance near the road is a reminder that this large Spanish-style hacienda was once a Civil War stockade. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as an archeological site. Sit by the large wood-burning fireplace in the great room that has a baby grand piano, custom-sculpted copper fountain and floor-to-ceiling glass wall. Nicely appointed guest bedrooms include an assortment of comfortable amenities. Select a room with a sitting area or balcony. The Red and Blue Rooms can be adjoined into a suite. Enjoy a hearty southern breakfast or lighter fare in the dining room with an entrance to a covered patio with a view of the bayou wilderness beyond. Garlic cheese grits, egg soufflé and hickory smoked bacon are favorites.

Grillades

My mom taught me how to cook grillades back in my childhood days in New Orleans. Serve over grits for breakfast, or rice for an entree.

Nutella Cookies

This recipe was inspired by one of our employees. This cookie has a brownie-like texture that will blow your mind, especially if you love Nutella.

Sunday Morning Eye Opener Casserole

This is our most versatile dish and should be prepared to fit each cooks\' taste. Feel free to add sautéed spinach, cooked asparagus, or even enjoy this dish without the croutons! Make it your own!

Tart Tatin

While my sister\'s kids were infants, I went to France to help out. They had an apple tree in the backyard which produced a LOT of apples, so I was always looking for a dish that used them. Therefore, I started making Tart Tatin, which is simply divine!

Simple pleasures

My husband booked a special "romance package" for my birthday. We arrived to a beautiful room where the sheets had been turned down and sprinkled with rose petals! A fruit, cheese, and cracker tray along with a chilled bottle of wine were waiting as well! Our room had it's own private entrance for coming and going as we pleased. Breakfast was served to our room the next morning, we declined the choice to join the other guests at breakfast in the lovely dining room. Food was excellent! Highly recommended! Can't wait to go back!

The Best!

My husband and I had the most delightful stay at the Stockade! I have stayed in many Bed and Breakfasts and this is the best! From the moment I walked through the door I felt the comfort of home. The Stockade is a beautifully detailed spacious home with fine furniture, and warm southern hospitality. We stayed in the Blue room. This is a large second floor room with warm inviting colors, large windows, and a private balcony with great views of stately old trees and lovely landscaping. The bed was perfect, fine linens, towels, and great Louisiana coffee! The Location of the Inn is close to LSU on Highland Road with many other lovely southern homes. We thank you Janice!
