Description
The gated entrance near the road is a reminder that this large Spanish-style hacienda was once a Civil War stockade. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as an archeological site. Sit by the large wood-burning fireplace in the great room that has a baby grand piano, custom-sculpted copper fountain and floor-to-ceiling glass wall. Nicely appointed guest bedrooms include an assortment of comfortable amenities. Select a room with a sitting area or balcony. The Red and Blue Rooms can be adjoined into a suite. Enjoy a hearty southern breakfast or lighter fare in the dining room with an entrance to a covered patio with a view of the bayou wilderness beyond. Garlic cheese grits, egg soufflé and hickory smoked bacon are favorites.

Tart Tatin While my sister\'s kids were infants, I went to France to help out. They had an apple tree in the backyard which produced a LOT of apples, so I was always looking for a dish that used them. Therefore, I started making Tart Tatin, which is simply divine! |
