Description

Circa 1871. Antiques and period furnishings decorate each of the inn's guest rooms and suites. The inn is the oldest continuously operating hostelry in Southern California. Situated on an acre of gardens in the center of downtown, it's within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, art galleries and museums. The staff is happy to assist guests in discovering Santa Barbara's varied attractions. Garden cottage units feature porches or secluded patios and several have gas fireplaces.

Your hotel is truly a charm. Between the cozy gardens and the exquisitely comfortable appointments, The Upham is charm itself.

Wonderful Tree House Rooms

We arrived late in the evening but the inn was still serving wine and cheese, then around 8 pm offered milk and cookies. When we woke in the morning we were surprised when opening the shutters that there were gorgeous jacaranda trees with purple flowers surrounding our room. Beautiful! A red headed woodpecker was hopping around as well and respectfully quiet. Beautiful property and great service.
