Circa 1774. In the Historic District near Waterfront Park and the harbor, this elegant inn was a series of 1860s warehouses before refurbishing into distinctive lodgings. Romantic guest bedrooms feature canopy or sleigh beds, open beam ceilings, reproduction wallpaper, antiques, original artwork, newspaper delivery and two-line telephones with data port. Spacious suites boast working fireplaces, travertine marble baths with whirlpool tubs and separate showers. Indulge in a traditional Southern breakfast buffet complete with grits. Enjoy afternoon wine and cheese in the lobby and after-dinner cordials or milk and cookies. Borrow a bike to tour the scenic French Quarter. The Rooftop Terrace offers panoramic views. A concierge will arrange carriage rides, tours or reservations.

Elegant hospitality

My husband and I stayed at the Vendue for one evening as we were travelling. From the moment we arrived, elegant hospitality was definitely the phrase that came to mind. The manager's wine and cheese reception was a great way to unwind after our long drive and everyone seemed to have our comfort and happiness in mind the entire time we stayed there. Inside, the inn feels small, with smaller, historic-sized rooms and antique furniture. The bathrooms are thoroughly modern. But the overall effect was a cozy stay in a room from a by-gone era. This inn is a delight.
