Wonderful Retreat

The Inn was beautiful, clean and the food was awesome. The Innkeepers went out of their way to make you feel welcome and special. Aurora Staples Inn was the only Inn that went out of their way a year in advance to plan our 5th anniversary. We will definately go back again.

Romantic getaway

We enjoyed the St. Croix suite, a very large room with en suite bath, double whirlpool, two-sided fireplace and sitting area. The bed belonged to the original owner of the house. Although only a double, we found it very comfortable. The innkeepers obviously love taking care of their guests. The place was beautifully decorated and we got to enjoy it all decked out for the holidays. Breakfast was delicious and included items that were out of the ordinary.

Magical, Charming, Romantic

I loved staying at the Aurora Staples Inn in Stillwater MN. This B&B is one of the best that I've ever stayed at in over 25 years of extensive traveling. The house is gorgeous, impeccable and immaculate. Great convenient location. A short 3 block walk to the charming Main Street lined with restaurants, cafes, and antique shops. 4 blocks to the river. The rooms were gorgeous and each had their special romantic ambiance. I stayed in the River view Suite which was beautifully decorated and had a wonderful sun porch with a swing to sit back and relax and watch the serene views of the river. The room was comfortable, spotless, with a luxurious bed and linens. The room offered all the amenities you could ever want or need. The food was excellent and beautifully prepared. The owners Cathy and Jerry Helmberger are the most outstanding Innkeepers I have ever met. They have great personalities, and are sweet, kind, friendly, gracious and very attentive. They went out of their way to be helpful and make my stay comfortable and absolutely perfect. Their attention to detail was incredible. Cathy and Jerry take great pride in their Inn and their charming town of Stillwater and it shows. I could not have asked for a better experience. I give this Inn my very highest possible recommendation. You will love this Inn!

Wonderful stay

Cathy is an incredible hostess. Stayed in the carriage house; beautifully decorated, quiet, comfortable and spacious. Spa tub was great after a long flight. Short walk to downtown for shopping and sightseeing. Short drive to stores on Hwy 36. Absolutely will be back!

Romantic Get-away!

Cathy is a wonderful host. You feel super comfortable and right at home at the Aurora Staples Inn. My husband and I stayed at the Inn on our wedding night and everything was perfect....the breakfast was splendid as well! Highly recommend it, the house is charming and so is the town of Stillwater.

Romance and Relaxation

This is our bi-annual visit to this wonderful B&B is Stillwater, MN. We feel as we are part of the family visiting Kathy and Jerry. We typically plan our stays around our birhtdays to celebrate with eachother and to relax and get away from the world for two days. The home is wonderful, the rooms have hot tubs to soak away, just a wonderful place to go. We have been to other B&B's but we keep coming back to this one! See you soon! J & K.

Great details and overall nice stay

We stayed at Aurora Staples for my birthday. We checked in at 555, merely five minutes before the website said they stopped serving the wine and snacks upon check in. Kathy greeted us and gave us a tour. We had our friends with us and she didn't mind at all. She made us feel comfortable and at home. Nobody was staying in the other rooms so she let us choose our room. This was a nice gesture as we decided to switch rooms. However, after choosing our room she went back into her portion of the house and left us wondering what about the wine and snacks...My husband had to knock on their door to request them. The husband was very nice about it and promptly brought them out, however, I don't feel we should have to ask. So make sure you are there way before six. The house was nicely decorated with a beautiful Christmas tree. Christmas music played downstairs and details on the wood flooring was fantastic. The towels in the room were plush and smelled freshly cleaned. There was a random half filled Suave body wash in the room by the bath. Not sure what that was about. Also, the gas fire place was in a odd location. In a corner right next to the bed. So you could not see if while on the bed, only from the tub, but it was quite far away at that point. Also, our cd player didn't work. There was a fridge outside our door where pop and water were free for the taking. Coffee was brought to our room at 8 without any disturbances. Breakfast was served downstairs in the dining room. The food was good, but I would have preferred the food delivered to our room. At the end of your stay a tip is expected, so please consider that into your price. Overall the stay was good but not great.

Romantic Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the St. Croix Room. We love the gas fire place located next to the hot tub. The service was wonderful. We had wine and snacks when we got there and the bed was very comfortable. A very quiet location. Perfect for our stay! The room had beautiful antique decor and they even had a Christmas tree in the room. Definitely would love to go back.
