Description
Circa 1763. Originally a Georgian-style home, this stately inn was renovated in 1849 to a Greek Revival mansion. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, and was the home of two governors, one from the 18th century and one from the 19th century. Two of the original slave quarters are still on the three-acre property near the beaches of Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The inn itself has a large porch and a solarium, and sits on a meticulously landscaped yard. It offers five guest bedrooms. A hearty breakfast is served each morning. Guests may then explore the beautiful natural and historic surroundings. Swimming, tennis and golf, fishing, boating and antiquing are available nearby. Or guests may prefer to relax with a book in the library or stroll through the formal boxwood gardens.
