Still on Cloud 9
I'm still on cloud 9 after 2.5 glorious days at your inn. The stay has done wonders for my soul. The food was unforgettable and your cooking class was fun and inspiring. I loved our lively conversations and sharing funny stories over such amazing fare. You are both so open and hospitable. I feel like i've known you all my life. We've decided to make this an annual sojourn and will be looking forward to next year--"Same time, same place"--with anticipation.

Never Felt So at Home
Jeff & Monika, The two of us have never felt so at home as we have here. This was our 43rd anniversary, and staying and dining here has become our most memorable anniversary to date. We so enjoyed your company and kindness.

Details, details, details!!
From your top quality amenities to perfect accesories--Chestnut Street Inn whispers, "Quality!" What a joy to be so well-pampered. My cooking class was more than delightful, our dinner with the other two guests couldn't have been more fun, and the Federal Room even provided an area in which we could pay Gin Rummy!! As for breakfast--wonderful, plus great conversation. Great way to end my "birthday" celebrations.

European Salon Ambience
We were looking for a place to shake off the winter blues, and meet up with close friends coming from all points in Illinois. We found just the right place in Sheffield’s Chestnut Street Inn. All of us are business owners, so we were very tired from our respective commitments. The minute we entered the door, our burdens started to lighten. Refreshments were offered at once, and we relaxed in the comfortable ambience of this restored mansion decorated with mementos from two show business careers and many international travels. An eclectic variety of music was played, and the conversation never lagged, nor was there talk of the ordinary or mundane. We were reminded of the old salons in the best houses of Europe, where artists, philosophers, politicos, and aristos gathered in the last century. The haute cuisine of Monika Sudakov is beyond description, and the gourmet breakfasts and dinners pleased even the most jaded and experienced palates. One breakfast was a soufflé stuffed with hearts of palm and topped with crispy highest quality bacon strips and avocado with pineapple and kiwi garnish. A full prime rib dinner the first night featured a butternut squash soup with creme fraiche, and the second night a variation on traditional matzo ball soup. The salads were exquisite and full of complex ingredients combined to produce taste explosions in the mouth. Monika is the undisputed creme brulee queen, too! The portions for meals are large, even by Midwest standards, and it is difficult not to stop eating. Entertainments were arranged the second day of our visit, with salon treatments all afternoon for the ladies and a guided tour of a magnificent mansion for the men. This was our second visit to Chestnut Street Inn, and between the high tone conversation, culinary finesse, and beautiful and comfortable bedroom suites, we reluctantly left feeling joyful.

Dining Is A Delight!
The Chestnut Street Inn delivers a five star experience. The friendliness and hospitality of the innkeepers is outstanding, the accommodations relaxing and beatifully decorated, and about the food.... I have stayed in more than 100 B&Bs, and Monika Sudakov's food is the most delicious and amazing I have ever had. We were impressed with Jeff Sudakov's knowledge of wine and that this small inn had a wine cellar. What a surprise and delight to find such a place in Northern rural Illinois. We will be back frequently!

Outstanding!!!!
My husband and I spent two nights in the Rosewood Suite. We had a marvelous time during our stay. Monika and Jeff were very friendly and accomodating. The meals were absolutely delicious!! We had dinner both nights in our own private dining room in the Rosewood Suite. It was so romantic. Sheffield is a neat little town. The Chestnut Street Inn is just one of the many hidden gems of this area.

It's All About The Food!
Every time we visit the Chestnut Street Inn, we are bowled over by the hospitality and gourmet food. This visit was no exception, and it was all the more enjoyable because we were joined by a dear friend. With four beautiful rooms in this historical property, this B&B is a great place to plan reunions and rendezvous with friends. My husband has enjoyed playing at the two conveniently located golf courses, and I’ve enjoyed days of beauty at Sophisticuts Salon & Spa. The innkeepers at Chestnut Street Inn go out of their way to plan fun and relaxing activities for guests, but the real story about this inn is the food. Dinner the first night was a Moroccan feast, which included Roasted Red Pepper Soup, Zucchini Chips, Roasted Beet, Orange and Goat Cheese Salad, Tagine of Beef with Sweet Potatoes, Cinnamon and Orange Blossom Crème Brulee. Breakfast the next morning was made to order for me since I am on a diet, and included fluffy eggs scrambled in truffle oil with broccoli and fresh local fruits. Chef Monika is the author of two cookbooks, and an award-winning gluten-free, vegetarian, or dietary-specific gourmet food magician. The second night’s dinner was Indian-inspired with Spicy Bean Soup, Cucumber Raita, Tomato and Scallion Salad, Chicken Curry with Rice, Strawberry and Ginger Sorbet. Dinner is only $30/person with huge portions, and the quality of the courses and menu are what one would expect to easily pay $100+/person for in any metro area. The hospitality is top-notch, rooms so well-appointed, beds blissful, and the cuisine is an Epicurean’s dream on Chestnut Street!

Even better the 2nd time around....
Our first stay at the Chestnut Street Inn was back in April 2008. We had such a marvelous time that we swore that we would return again sometime in the future. We decided to go ahead and make plans to return in November of this year. We spent 3 nights during our stay in November. We spent 1 night in the Blue Room and 2 nights in the Rosewood Suite. Monika is an amazing Chef so we ate all of our breakfasts and dinners at the Inn. We had such a wonderful experience during our first stay that we didn't think that it could be possible for the second stay to be even better than the first. This second stay was even better. All of Monika's meals are nothing short of delicious! I have Gluten and MSG intolerances and Monika is great when it comes to dealing with different food issues. Monika and Jeff are very nice and gracious Innkeepers. They go above and beyond in everything that they do for their guests and it shows. The Christmas decorations were up during this stay and it was so nice being able to enjoy in the festivities at the Inn. We really wish that we lived closer because we would stay more often if we didn't have to drive so far. We have stayed at many places during our travels and we have to say that this is one of our absolute favorites. We highly recommend it. The Chestnut Street Inn is a triple threat-great accommodations, great food and fabulous Innkeepers. You just can't go wrong by staying at this Inn. Hopefully we can return again sometime soon. B & B - Best of Best
Relax in areas that invite you to make this your home away from home. Appreciate the exceedingly clean & tidiness of all rooms, from the common areas to the bathrooms. Enjoy Monika's perkiness, and Jeff's charming, entertaining vein. Delight in the rooms with separate baths that are cozy and roomy, with well thought out decor. BUT WAIT - that is not all! If the atmosphere doesn't make you want to live there...the food will! No plain ole' eggs & bacon here! Monika expresses herself in every plate and shows off her culinary expertise for a breakfast you will never forget. And you MUST order the dinner with its many courses that will tickle your taste buds to the point of elation. Rating 5 - excellent across the board seems insufficient. How about a 10or11!

Enjoyable Romantic Weekend
My husband and I spent an enjoyable weekend with Jeff and Monika. All the rooms are comfortable, the inn itself is warm and inviting. This is a place to relax, read a book, watch a movie, let you troubles float away for a while. The drive was lovely.
And Monika can cook!! If I could eat at her home every weekend I would be in heaven. The dinners she prepares are worth the trip alone.
