Creme Brule French Toast

Your guests will rave about this signiture French Toast dish from the INN at HoRN PoINT. Ingredients: One stick butter 1 and 1/2 cup loose (not packed) brown sugar Two Tbs corn syrup 1 loaf Challah Bread (pan, not twisted or round) 7-8 eggs 1 and 1/2 cup half and half 1 Tbs vanilla 1 and 1/2 to 2 Tbs Grand Marnier Orange zest for garnish Directions: Melt butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in a sauce pan until very smooth (do not burn, finished product on the stove will resemble a brain). Cut all of the crust off of the Challah bread. Cut remaining loaf in 1 inch thick vertical pieces (working from end to end, at least 7 slices per loaf). Whisk eggs, cream, vanilla and Grand Marnier until completely blended. Pour brown, caramalized "topping" into glass brownie pan (11X14). Lay slices of Challah bread flat down into the "topping" to completely cover the bottom of the pan (six slices). Use remaining slice to fill in the blank spots and squeeze the bread so that it is snug in the pan (important to outcome). Slowly pour the eggs mixture over the bread waiting for the egg to be absorbed. Cover and refrigerate.
