Creme Brulee French Toast
Description:
The most requested French Toast breakfast option at the inn, this is creamy and sweet, so you don't need to add syrup. It's a cinch to prepare! Ingredients: 1 (1 pound) loaf French Bread (I use something firm, not mushy), cut diagonally in 1" slices 8 eggs 2 cups milk 1-1/2 cups half-and-half cream 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 3/4 cup butter 1-1/3 cups brown sugar 3 Tablespoons light corn syrup Directions: Butter 9 x 13 baking dish. Arrange slice of bread in the bottom of the pan. Beat eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon in a bowl and pour over bread slices and refrigerate, covered, overnight. The next morning, preheat over to 350 degrees. In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter and corn syrup; heat until bubbling. Pour over bread and egg mixture. Bake, uncovered, for 40 minutes. Note: Place a sheet of foil under pan to catch overflow of sugar mixture. It will save you cleanup time afterwards.
